Value investment is a very good way of investing but at times the investor has to wait for years without the stock appreciating in price....this mostly happens in stocks where quality of management is not proven and the stock does does not have following from large investors and institutions.
My investment style is more of growth investment in which I try to find companies which will compound in their market cap due to the profits they generate year after year.....so I find max 20-22 stocks which pass my investment critaria from the universe of more than 5000 stocks listed on exchanges...and I dont invest in unknown companies with unknown managements.....
In my portfolio there are A class stocks like Asian Paints, HDFC Bank,Nestle etc which have a record of wealth compounding for atleast 10 years.....so I invest more say 10-15 % of the total portfolio in each such stock.....I also have B class stocks which dont have 10 years track record but they have 4-5 years track record...here I invest 5-6 % of the portfolio...there are some new stocks like HDFC Life, ICICI Prulife, IDFC Capital First etc which have all the parameters of wealth compounders but no long track record.....here I invest 3-4 % max. I never touch penny stocks, they are too risky...most of the undervalued stocks are undervalued for a reason, eithet management is chor management, industry is in trouble etc and they can become zero and get delisted....The stocks from C team will hopefully graduate to B or A team stocks in years to come...but most failures also come from this group but the impact on total portfolio is low due to low % invested.
I found that in Indian stock markets best performance is obtained by investing in wealth compounders....with least amount of risk....

कोई कहता है कयामत आने वाली है
ये amazon के जंगलों की आग हम सबको झुलसाने वाली है
आग से बचे तोह डुबोने को बाढ़ तो है ही......
कोई nifty को 7000 पे लाना चाहता है
मगर बताता नही के वहां पहुँच के करेगा क्या.....
जिसने कभी बाज़ार से राशन नहीं खरीदा वो आने वाले रिसेशन से चिंतित है....
एक ओर Trump है जिसे चुप्पी नहीं लगती
तोह कोई चुप है, जिसे सुनने को सब आतुर हैं...
एक इकोनॉमिस्ट है, जिसे RBI की कुर्सी छोड़ते ही सब साफ साफ नजर आने लगा है (के आगे सब धुन्दला है)
कोई 5trillion डॉलर के सपने दिखा रहा है
तो उसी समय कोई पकोड़े तल के प्रॉपर्टी बना रहा है
इन् सब से घिरा एक निवेशक सोच रहा है....
क्या.....
के इसी वक्त की बात एक बुद्धिमान बुज़ुर्ग करता था (Omaha वाला)
के इस निवेशक के सफल होने का समय आने वाला है....
