Trading Futures: Indices Vs Individual Stocks

To all the traders out there trading in futures segment, what is your preference for trade? Indices like NIFTY, BANKNIFTY or individual stocks?

Please give reasons for the preference if possible.

Also, traders who trade in individual stocks, how do you choose stocks for intra-day?

both !

I trade both. indices futures/options in heavy qty , stock fut/opt moderate or small qty, depends on particular stock.

I prefer all long / all short trades. no mixture !

sometimes gets punished cruelly !

While choosing stocks for intraday prefer stocks with high liquidity, less volatility and stocks traded in higher volumes .

I prefer individual stocks. I think that out of habit. You can also find news releases on individual promotions. There are many individual shares. You can browse through a large list looking for something interesting.
