So they timed it correctly :DD
Timing it was not in the hands of our Govt....it depended on British Parliament and the Courts getting convinced that this is a fit case for arrest and sending back to India. Our Govt strongly pursued the case and got the success.

We don't know yet about the charges for which the arrest warrant has been issued, do we ? It could be because of opening and operating a business/bank accounts without having an insurance number over there or something.

Let's wait for more details.

The charges are not opening the bank account or insurance number or some minor driving offences....it is for cheating PNB in US $2 billion PNB scam...in response to Indian EDs request for his extradition in a money laundering case.....

Was doing some research and came across some correlation between traded quantity of below script and Bank Nifty. To me it looks like qty changes in below screenshot happens right before major movement in banknifty.

I could be wrong and its night time, might be imagining things... so will leave it here to come back again later.

edit: 24 month average volume is 23,600

Arrest Warrant Issued Against Nirav Modi By London Court: Sources

All India | Written by Radhika Iyer | Updated: March 18, 2019 20:58 IST

NEW DELHI/LONDON:
Fugitive jeweler Nirav Modi, wanted in India over a mega bank scam that exploded more than a year ago, faces possible arrest in the UK with a warrant issued by the authorities in London.

Sources say Nirav Modi, 48, can be arrested anytime in the next few days following the Enforcement Directorate's request for his extradition in August 2018. UK Home Secretary Sajid Javid signed on the extradition request.

His arrest will enable the start of a trial against him in the Westminster court. If the court decides, London will issue an order to extradite the tycoon to India. The order can be challenged by Nirav Modi.

Nirav Modi and his uncle Mehul Choksi are the prime accused in the Rs. 13,000-crore Punjab National Bank scam involving fake guarantees in the name of the state-run lender to secure loans overseas.

Both left India in January last year before the CBI started investigating the PNB scam.

Earlier this month, Nirav Modi was seen walking on the streets of London by a reporter of the British newspaper The Telegraph. In a two-minute clip shared by the newspaper, the billionaire, looking somewhat different with a moustache, and wearing a much-talked about expensive ostrich hide jacket, repeatedly said "no comments".

UK newspaper, Daily Telegraph found Modi hiding in London. They chased him on streets of London for interview. That’s when Indian govt found out he was there. “Sourced News” means original story was published somewhere else first.

Nirav was travelling on Indian passport for 6 months after PNB scam came to light. Indian govt was too slow to issue red corner look out notice through Interpol. You might have read in media about his travels around world using Indian passport.

India needed to file extradition case in UK courts first, and it was well timed. It came to media limelight due to Telegraph showing video Nirav roaming on streets of London.

I expect Mallya being brought to India during voting phase.
