I did with excel 2010, win7, 64bit and had some issues. Excel would only come as read-only and hence did not show figures from NOW.

Anyway this weekend stumbled on Interactive Brokers and its looking very interesting. Their Brokerage rates look on par with zerodha etc but the platform looks tremendous ( TSL etc.) and best of all open Source API to connect to Ami or Ninjatrader at no charges. So no more having having ten different utilities on the pc ( broker, data feed, charting etc) :)
caveat emptor- not tried it myself but intend to. though they are on the official list on NSE data vendors

Anyway this is not to take away anything from this great utility from Josh and others from Ramdas :thumb:
1) I would like to know which version of excel 2010 you used whther is basic ie limited or student and home edition or professional?
2)What is the brokerage of IB that it is better than or equal to Zerodha?

1) 2010 Standard edition - btw josh was busy but said he would look into this when free. So doesn't mean it will or wont work on excel 2010. I have just stated what happened in my case

2) please do some search & check their site or even better call sales reps (Mumbai) for full detail as I rather not promote. Its in the top right hand corner of the site under "sales contacts"

Download the file and unzip it into a separate folder. There are five files in it.
Following files should be placed in to a folder trusted by Excel else every time you open them enable macros and data connection.
RT3.xlsm - This fetches data from NOW and Yahoo
RTG3.xlsm - This fetches data from NOW and Google
NowBackfil.xlsm - This is to be used to backfill to AmiBroker

These should go into the format folder located below your\Amibroker\path
Nest3.format
RTG3.format

Before trying anything in AmiBroker, create new database maybe C:\AmiBroker\RTdata.

Change your system date setting through Start-Control Panel-Regional and Language Options- Customize> Date tab to dd/mm/yyyy or D/M/yyyy.
Time tab -> short time - HH:MM:SS

If you want realtime feed from now, open applications strictly in following order->
NOW-Excel 2007 or above - RTG3.xlsm or RT3.xlsm.

Do not open both RTG3.xlsm and RT3.xlsm simultaneously. They do not work together and your data may get screwed.

There was a slight error in uploading.--

Those who can create RAM disk can download DATARAM's RAM disk software. Software can be downloaded from
here- http://memory.dataram.com/products-and-services/software/ramdisk. User Manual can be obtained on the same page. In FAQ/Support section, click on User Manual. Screen by Screen instructions are given for creating RAM Drive. Create a RAM disk 5 MB with FAT16 file partition and click on Start RAMdisk.

After installation, if you do not see the new drive in your Windows explorer, You may have to Right Click on MyComputer -Manage- Disk drives. Select the new disk and format it. Alott letter - "R" to the new RAM drive.

Others will get an error. Open Visual Basic in Developer Tab and go to Module1. Find these lines in subroutine MakeCSV().

'MkDir ("C:\RT") 'This will create a folder RT in C Drive.
FileName = "R:\MyCSVG.txt" 'This file is used to write quotes

change these to -
MkDir ("C:\RT") 'This will create a folder RT in C Drive. (Removed the single quote at the left to uncomment this line)
FileName = "C:\RT\MyCSVG.txt" 'This file is used to write quotes

Otherwise download the file RT3.xlsm from here - http://www.4shared.com/file/uJMUw9Q_/RT3.html

and the file RTG3.xlsm from here http://www.4shared.com/file/P_vB5iw4/RTG3.html

I have made the changes. Inconvenience regretted.

Give path for your new database in proper place and enjoy realtime feed.

Right-click on excel file and go to properties. Remove the check-mark against Read-only. That should solve the problem. However, if Excel 2010 is limited edition, it may not support RTD function. In that case you will not get quotes. I am back home now so feel free to ask if there is any problem.

Amibroker has ready plugin for Interactive brokers. You will not need an API. BTW I saw their site. They are much more costly than Zerodha.

Thanks Josh ,will try and let you know the result.

On IB they are charging 0.01 % for one leg only in intraday Fut although other charges apply to both legs. I think Zerodha also has 0.01% scheme. Also IB is charging Rs 15 for index options and Rs25 for stock options.

Isnt this comparable or I am missing something. Other charges can be seen here http://www.interactivebrokers.co.in/en/accounts/fees/indiaStockExchangeFees.php?ib_entity=in

which looks lesser than zerodha. So imo its cheaper than zerodha.

Please let me know if my assessment is correct or flawed.

Zerodha charges .01% or Rs20 which ever is lower.
For two lots of NIFTY-I, it is 53.5 for .01% and in zerodha it is only 20. Further I would like to know this .01% in IB is it for all or negotiable?
Can You please give link to their brokerage structure.

I am not appointed as salesman by any of them. I do not have any personal relationship with any of them. Zerodha is charging Rs.20 per executed order irrespective of no. of shares in that order.

Here is comparison -
