Tor is fine for some parts of simple anonymous staying in the net, but it is not the perfect tool which any way not exists.

What ever very private information you send, even through Tor, must be encrypted. Did you ever hear about: Exit Nodes? Here a link to read in:

http://www.cs.kau.se/philwint/spoiled_onions/techreport.pdf
Yes Exit nodes were known issues, but then it depends - How you use Tor, If you want to use for being anonymous, its still pretty good and definitely the first step. People might use Tor for their communication of sensitive data but then that doesn't apply to normal users.

If you are interested in encrypted communication - I think the most common issue lies with the websites itself who has poorly implemented security or sometimes no security at all. You stand exposed and there is not much you can do either.

@Hauler

I am not good at encryption. What would you recommend for any starter: I mean, what kind of encryption program would be easy of use for a starter and what would be the next level?
Dan you are a very smart man..... :thumb::thumb::thumb:

America’s Spies Want Edward Snowden Dead

http://www.buzzfeed.com/bennyjohnson/americas-spies-want-edward-snowden-dead

Americans NSA uses all what ever they have primary for industrial espionage and very little for crime or terrorist espionage. Snowden will give more information on that soon and if not him, then the press, which has all the documents it will release about all those information they have about it step by step.

The point is not that only big companies are spied on: The point is that all, even very small companies are spied on. Here most are very naive, and I repeat: Absolute naive about the danger they face by storing there data on the OS they use day bay day for there on line business. Sir DP has warned about that months ago and I am sure non of you have ever recognized the danger you face even with any of your small companies.

Yea, yea, we have nothing to hide. Yes, stupid people never have any thing to hide. You will see what is coming on information in the coming future. Yea, yea.

How to Remove The Hidden Personal Information Microsoft Office Adds to Your Documents

Microsoft Office saves hidden metadata in your Office documents, including how long you’ve been working on them, the name of everyone who’s worked on the document, when the document was created, and even previous versions of the document.

Before you publish Office documents publicly or send them to someone, you’ll probably want to check what hidden information the document contains and remove the sensitive data. This metadata can infringe on your privacy or be potentially embarrassing.

View and Remove Hidden Data

On Office 2013 or Office 2010, click the File menu, click Info and the Inspect Document tool will be front-and-center, informing you about the potentially sensitive information that the document contains. This information is more obvious than it is in older versions of Office, but it’s still easy to miss if you’re not aware Office adds this sensitive data to your documents.

On Office 2007, click the Office orb button on the ribbon, point to Prepare, and click Inspect Document.

Here an incredible tool for Firefox to check how secure you serve:

Calomel SSL Validation (a Firefox Add-on extension grading SSL strength)

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/calomel-ssl-validation/

After installation you really should take your time to read through this link: https://calomel.org/firefox_ssl_validation.html

In the following link you have all the tools to test what ever you want to know about your current browser settings when it comes to SSL Validation: https://calomel.org/

Incredible :thumb: and thanks to the founder of this project.

In case you use Opera, you once should have a look at what they offer on "Ectensions" to add to your browser. You will find this tool by left clicking on the Opera sign on the left upper part in the open browser window or by click: Ctrl+Shift+E when the browser is open. Here you go to: Get more extensions. Now you are here: https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/

If you did install your add ons in Firefox by your self, you will find some extensions here you are familiar with like:

Adblock plus: https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/opera-adblock/?display=en-GB
HTTPS everywhere: https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/https-everywhere/?display=en
Disconnect: https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/disconnect/?display=en
Ghostery: https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/ghostery/?display=en
WOT: https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/wot/?display=en
Disconnect: https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/disconnect/?display=en

Now some other useful extensions are:

History Eraser: https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/history-eraser/?display=en
Terms of service: https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/terms-of-service-didnt-read/?display=en
Stop Social: https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/stopsocial/?display=en
Pure URL: https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/pure-url/?display=en
IP Address and Domain Information: https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/ip-address-and-domain-information/?display=en

And one of the newest extensions in Opera to see how safe or unsafe your data on any page you visit are is the following one:

AVG Privacy Fix: https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/avg-privacyfix-2/? display=en After installation you should see a bust on the right upper side after the navigation tool bar. After each time you open a new page/link, you press on the bust and now you will see how safe/unsafe your data in the page/link are. As the extension is very new, many pages/links are still not rated. Never mind, as over time it will be the case and then it will help all.

There are more extensions you can and should use. I just gave some ideas which are related to my interests which is security. By the way: Did all of you update your " Adobe Flash Player" as there is a bad problem with it. Sir DP used to make such warnings, now I will do it for once. If you run the IExplorer, Microsoft should have sent you and update for it. In any other case you have to update the AFP now: https://www.adobe.com/downloads.html?promoid=KAWQL

Glenn Greenwald, which most of us do know as the man who started to publish documents from E. Snowden treasury/documents, has started a few weeks back with a new project, financed by co founder from Ebay (Pierre Omidyar). Other well known people who helped to build up this new unveiling platform are Laura Poitras and Jeremy Scahill. Now today they went the first time officially/in public on line :clapping::thumb:, even they face danger. (Over the past seven months the journalists who have reported on these documents from the National Security Agency have been repeatedly threatened by a wide range of government officials. Sometimes, the intimidation campaign has gone beyond mere threats. These attempted intimidation tactics have intensified in recent weeks and have become clearly more concerted and coordinated). To do this, even you are threaten from those guys, really needs courage. Respect :thumb:

Welcome to The Intercept

We are very excited to welcome everyone to The Intercept, a publication of First Look Media (FLM). The Intercept, which the three of us created, is the first of what will be numerous digital magazines published by FLM.

As soon as we resolved to build The Intercept, we set out to recruit many of the journalists whose work we have long respected and admired: those who have a proven track record of breaking boundaries, taking risks, and producing innovative, rigorous journalism.

We have assembled a team of experienced and independent journalists and editors (see our masthead here). Our central mission is to hold the most powerful governmental and corporate factions accountable, and to do so, we will report on a wide and varied range of issues.
