Branded Android Smart Phone : Rs. 25,000 range

Looking to buy a branded Android Smart phone below Rs. 25,000. Having done some cursory research, I have chosen to eliminate the newer Chinese made brands from my list. This narrow's down my choices to :

LG Google Nexus 5X (16 GB) : Rs. 21,990
Lenovo Vibe Shot : Rs. 24,240
Asus Zenfone 2 Deluxe ZE551ML : Rs. 22,999
HTC One M8 Eye : Rs. 24,499
Samsung Galaxy S5 : Rs. 21,999

Any tips or advise appreciated.

Thanks.......

NB : Am not a gamer, so not interested in high end graphics. Mostly will be using the mobile to track markets, Whatsapp and a bit of browsing (work related)
One plus 2 is good too , do check

Thanks Mittens,

Understand OnePlus is among the 'newer' Chinese brand - which I want to avoid. Any traders using a smartphone to trade? Would be nice if you could share your experience - It will be of help to the wider trading community as well.

Thanks.....

SmartPhone for Rs. 251?

Freedom 251 Is the Cheapest Smartphone in the World; Packs in Quad-Core Processor and More at Just Rs. 251

http://gadgets.ndtv.com/mobiles/new...rtphone-in-the-world-costs-just-rs-251-803359

Ringing Bells on Wednesday unveiled the Freedom 251 smartphone, delivering on its earlier commitment of launching the cheapest smartphone in India. Priced at just Rs. 251 (approximately $4), the Freedom 251 is arguably the cheapest smartphone in the world.

The Freedom 251, which Ringing Bells says has been made 'with immense support' from the Indian government, complies with the government's Make in India program. With such a price point, the little know smartphone maker from Noida is aiming to make the smartphone accessible to everyone.

The Freedom 251 understandably sports entry-level hardware specifications. It sports a 4-inch IPS display (resolution unspecified). It is powered by a quad-core SoC from an unspecified brand clocked at 1.3GHz, coupled with 1GB of RAM. The Freedom 251 comes with 8GB of inbuilt storage, which can be expanded via microSD card (up to 32GB).

Other specifications of the Freedom 251 include a 3.2-megapixel rear camera, a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera, 3G support, Wi-Fi connectivity, and a 1450mAh battery. The Freedom 251 smartphone ships with a number of apps pre-installed on it. Some of which include Women Safety, Swachh Bharat, Fisherman, Farmer, Medical, Google Play, WhatsApp, Facebook, and YouTube. Ringing Bells assures that it has more than 650 service centres across different parts of India, and is giving one-year warranty on the Freedom 251.

Thousands of users may not find the Freedom 251 smartphone interesting - after all, it doesn't feature impressive specifications, the main USP of most Android smartphones. However, the specifications provided at the staggeringly low price point of Rs. 251 are certainly remarkable. It will be available for purchases via the Freedom 251 website from Thursday at 6am, though it may be June before all shipments are completed.

A low-cost smartphone such as the Freedom 251 has the potential to make a big impact in the country. According to estimates from last year, only 14 percent of the population in the country has access to a smartphone.

At this point, Indian government's role behind the phone isn't clear - and whether or not the government is subsidising the phone. We expect to learn more about it later on Wednesday evening at the official launch event of the smartphone. The event will see a number of top Indian officials including Sri Manohar Parrikkar, Union Minister of Defence, and Dr. Murali Manohar Joshi, Member of Parliament.

TP,

Last read in the news that the students in municipal schools who were given the tablets had found a way to enable wifi (which was disabled), browse the net, play games and dow load apps.

So now the schools requires the students to leave behind the tablet at school.:lol::lol:

... and will be shipped by June.

Fw. as received....

There’s a large possibility of a SCAM going on in the name of Cheapest mobile phone in India – Freedom251for Rs. 251 only. Beware, its a very new company with no details available, and only having 4-5 page website. The company established Sept 2015 only and the website freedom251.com purchased this month only. Its 100% scam in name of cheap mobiles. Same company(ringingbells.co.in) sold smart phonefor Rs. 2999 this month on Feb 2 – 10 and people have not got even order confirmation. No response from company in this matter and no numbers are working. Emails are bounced back. People are complaining they have been scammed on this phone and now thecompany is coming with almost similar specification phone (3G instead of 4G) for Rs. 251 only, whichlooks a SCAM only. So just beware ofit.

Its pretty easy to scam in this manner, 251*10,00,000 =251,000,000 That’s 25.1 Cr and with this price tag of Rs 251 for such smart phone, people can think of forgetting Rs 251and purchase. Company will take 25.1 Cr rupees just by creating 4-5 page website and some marketing online. People will also not complain for fraud as they will think its ok, the amount is not big just Rs. 251.So just BEWARE. Don’t loose your Rs.251 also.Company is starting booking from tomorrow 6.00 AM.

Freedom 251: Queries (FAQs) about the cheapest smartphone answered

A working smartphone for Rs 251, without any government subsidy, is bound to attract apprehensions in the market. Especially, if it is from a little-known Noida-based company called Ringing Bells, which was recently established in 2015.

Whatever the case maybe, the fact is that the company has brought the Freedom 251 smartphone to India and is selling it at an amount, which is lesser than a good fast food meal. As noted in our first impressions, the Freedom 251 is a full-fledge usable smartphone.

The target audience, people for whom Rs 251 still matters, have nothing much to really ask for before buying it. However, people who might not use the smartphone primarily have got a lot to ask.

While initially there might be a lot of doubts around the Freedom 251, Ringing Bells is just clinging on to the price of device to silence critics, which by the way are growing by each passing minute.

So, here are the answers to all the major questions raised by consumers.

Is the smartphone worth buying at Rs 251?

While the market is used to substandard unusable products at cheap prices, the Freedom 251 smartphone (surprisingly) delivers. The company accepted that the smartphone should ideally cost above Rs 3,000. So, Ringing Bells claims to offer consumers a Rs 3,000-like smartphone performance in this mobile retailing at Rs 251.

Who is subsidizing the price?

Ringing Bells has confirmed that the government has nothing to do with the price of the smartphone. While member of parliament Murli Manohar Joshi and defence minister Manohar Parrikar were invited for the launch, the company claimed that they were just invited as special guests. However, the defence minister did not attend the event.

On the price of Rs 251, Ringing Bells made it clear that 'price innovation' is borne by themselves. So, the company is giving the subsidy not the Indian government.

So, how is the company going to make profit?

Ringing Bells president Ashok Chadha is primarily aiming to achieve this price point by making it a mass product and save from economies of scale. Also, once their platform is well established, Chadha will opt for alternative sources of income. He mentioned that the company intends to make very little profits from the Freedom 251 particularly.

The cost of making one unit of the smartphone is around Rs 2,000. "By making in India, this price goes down by Rs 400. Then we will sell online only. So, this pulls down the price by Rs 400 further. We are sure that this smartphone will be in a lot of demand. We are assuming to save around Rs 500 from this economy of scale. At last, we wait for our platform to grow, so, that we can make money from other services," explained Chadha at the launch event. The company is also aiming to introduce its own SIM card within a couple of years (which can be the main source of income/profits).

How to book one?

The company has stopped taking orders on the Freedom251.com website after receiving massive booking requests. Ringing Bells will start the booking process soon. To book one, consumers will have to visit www.freedom251.com, click on buy and follow the on-screen instructions. The booking period will close on February 22. Consumers can expect to get the smartphones by June 30 (latest).

What about after sales support?

Ringing Bells stated that they have over 650 service centres across India. The device comes with a 1 year warranty.

why z the company subsidizing is a question.?
as said in previous post they can run away with 25 cr :D
OR, the Chinese govt. could be subsidizing this phone secretly and might install virus/spying chips. ;)

Looks like scam - noone even samsung has been able to monetize through apps.

Had they been using custom developed mobile OS instead of android - like what microsoft and amazon did with their devices - then you can think about scale and controlling the ecosystem

Had monetizing been so easy - then wouldn't google would have subsidized handsets with google one.

A super-simple way to find your lost smartphone is hidden in Google - Rob Price

http://www.traderji.com/search.php?searchid=23338165

Losing your smartphone is one of life's enduring struggles. Sure, it's not exactly consequential in the grand scheme of things. But it sure is frustrating when you need to make a call or check something and it's nowhere to be found. Luckily, Google has built a way to quickly and easily locate misplaced phones — read on to check it out.

1. It's really very simple: First, head on over to Google, and make sure you're signed in to the Google account registered to your phone.

2. Then, search: "Where's my phone?"

3. A map appears ...

4. And shortly afterward, so does your phone's location!

5. It can be a godsend if you misplace your phone on a night out.

6. Alternately, if it's just lost around the house, you can make it ring on full volume to help you locate it — even if it has previously been on silent.

7. It's part of Google's device manager. If you click through, you can also remotely lock the phone or wipe its contents altogether.

8. And sorry iPhone users: The "where's my phone" Google trick works only if you have an Android smartphone.

9. Yes, the iPhone does has a similar tool for locating your iPhone using iCloud. But it's not as neat and easy as Android's — it's right there in Google!
