if u had already bought MF's, it would be at a particular NAV (net asset value) of the scheme on the date. You watch for today's NAV. If it is more, your investment has appreciated. Normally dividends will be declared in MF's once in a year or so. You may not get any regular income from MF's, unless it is guaranteed. Otherwise, the return will be dividend and appreciation in NAV only.
