Supratik,

Suzlon has started zooming again!
But, I had exited it 2 weeks back, expecting a market correction.

So, what would you suggest as the good price to re-enter?

Thanks,
Narendra

Yeah Narendra,

Same with me - I had also exited; thought to buy back.
No corrections - the whole world index is down - Indian markets are zooming - unidirectional - not sure anyway - sth fishy:).
Sulon 1543 - thats painful

Try Welspun Gujarat - it is a good counter.

Thanks and Regards
Supratik

SECTOR WATCH: Steel Pipes

B G Shirsat / Mumbai June 26, 2007

Q4 Review: Six key steel pipe manufacturers saw an aggregate 17.5 per cent growth in sales and 37.7 per cent rise in profit in the March 2007 quarter. Profit grew at a faster pace than sales following a decline in input costs. The cost of raw materials rose by 9.6 per cent against 17.5 per cent growth in sales.

Operating profit margins increased by 125 basis points on a y-o-y basis, but were still lower by 45-90 basis points compared with those in the previous three quarters. JSW Steel, the leading pipes manufacturer, reported a robust growth in sales at 33.1 per cent, while net profit rose by around 50 per cent.

Welspun Gujarat’s net profit grew 112 per cent on a modest rise in sales, while Maharashtra Seamless’ top line and bottom line rose over 25 per cent each.

Trigger: The Chinese government has cancelled the export rebates on welded steel pipes and reduced the rebates on seamless steel pipes from the current 13 per cent to 5 per cent, effective from July 1.

With a host of global accreditation, industry leaders such as Jindal Saw, Welspun Gujarat Stahl Rohren, PSL, Maharashtra Seamless and Man Industries are well-equipped to cash in on the opportunity unfolding in the space.

Outlook: According to Alchemy Research, demand for steel pipes is emerging from West Asian markets such as Iran, Iraq, UAE and Qatar and markets in Africa such as Algeria, Libya and Nigeria.

The reason: a boom in the oil and gas transportation infrastructure in these regions. Indian pipe companies are likely to ride the demand growth on account of their cost competitiveness. Domestic demand from oil sector players such as ONGC, Reliance, and GAIL India is estimated at 21,000 kms in five years.

Our picks are Welspun Gujarat and PSl. They have already been posted.

Thanks and Regards
Supratik

What is this PSI or PSL Supratik.
I don't remember having seen that!

Pratibha Industries Limited is also in the pipes business.
So, how do you rate it?

-Narendra

Narendra,

I meant PSL LTD.

Pratiba Industries also has been posted twice - once at 275 and another at 170.
I think Pratibha is also a potentially strong counter. You can gradually add it.

Watch out for Software and Telecom sectors. They have consolidated much. If the sensex has to go up these counters should contribute now. Cement story is yet to be unfolded and rerated.
Expecting some actions in the coming days.

Thanks and Regards

BS Reporter / Mumbai July 02, 2007

Welspun-Gujarat Stahl Rohren today announced plans to build a manufacturing facility in Little Rock, Arkansas, USA on a 140-acre site adjacent to the Little Rock Port authority.

According to a release issued by the company to the BSE today, the $100 million facility, once completed, will be capable of 300,000 net tonne tubular steel pipes annually for use in the oil and gas industry.

"The company will hire about 300 workers, and hopes to start production by spring 2008," the release added.

"This is a great day for Arkansas," Governor Mike Beebe said. "Welspun could have chosen many other locations for their investments, and they chose Arkansas. Our workforce, infrastructure and the natural benefits of the Arkansas River convinced Welspun to become our partners in progress. We welcome these great manufacturing jobs".

B K Goenka, vice chairman and managing director, Welspun-Gujarat Stahl Rohren said: "We are happy to be here at Little Rock today - which has the advantage of a talented workforce, the right transportation opportunities and above all, the right geographical location.
