But there is no need to have the shares in demat when they are providing BTST..
That is assuming that the shares will be delivered to your demat. But if the delivery fails or delays(ex: if you bought shorted shares), you have to bear the grunt of it, not the broker.

Even if read ICICIdirect's FAQ, they too mention it clearly that BTST trades are at client's risk and the client should make good the loss in case of any problems.

Yes Bunny .. Of course its true if the delivery fails.. But I have never faced such situation before.. So the conclusion is do BTST at our own risks.. :)
