This will happen in India too. What I don't understand is why electric cars are more expensive than petrol/diesel cars, whereas electric two wheelers are cheaper.

Electric four wheeler run on Lithium batteries so they are costly. Two wheelers mostly run on lead acid batteries so they are cheap. ones which run on lithium battery they are costly.
