Atlas Cycles shuts operations at last manufacturing unit
The company shut the factory on June 3, which ironically was also the World Bicycle Day. It laid off 431 remaining employees, though Rana insists they continue to be on the roll of the company and will be paid "lay-off wages" upon marking attendance daily.

  • Oil marketing companies had stopped revising daily prices of petrol and diesel after March 16
  • Crude oil rates went up by almost 20% last week

The thing is, the prices of branded/ packed items have gone up - be it Pillsbury atta or Sensodyne toothpaste or Rooh Afza. Is there more inflation in the offing (regardless of the government figures) ?

Pata nahi sir... it all depends, imo, on two things - the real impact of the lockdown on incomes and the elasticity of demand. So two pertinent questions at hand. Are you reducing your consumption because of price rise or switching to cheaper alternatives? (companies are reporting increase in sale of small packets/sachets) And are you being forced to cut back because of lower salary? (haven't come across any data regarding this so far)
Reg. petrol, I don't think anything will happen. 7 years ago someone from BJP would have launched an attack and the government would have had to buckle down and reduce excise to compensate for the rise of crude. Now no such thing will happen.
