Only 1 person came up with healthy discussion and rest all were as I said, "finger pointers"!
Superpower, well no not yet. But our growth rate is growing at fast rate. I agree rich are getting richer and poor people still live in same situation they were and your data is acceptable. But instead of pin pointing, finger pointing and blame game which we are doing in past 64 years and discuss something constructive Indians spend time in preaching just like cricket superflop oldies who did nothing when they were playing now tell on TV how should current player play. Well atleast they played long back but looks like on this forum of trading, economics and monetary people don't even read or have knowledge to take part in discussion and call names for what they don't agree too. Bravo.
As for your facts, let me again remind our economy till 1991 started with industrialsm and commulism in 1947 and became protectionism in Lal Bahadur's era, democratic socialism in Indira's era and building a nation in Rajiv Gandhi era. We had something called 5 year planning and planning commission which was bigger than now-a-days hyped budget speech.
Our only friend after independence was than Soviet Union which was indutrial superpower and we adopted heavy industry, psu during Nehru's era. When Shashtri came emphasis moved to small scale industries and agriculture, green revolution and to save nation against China and Pakistan. By than Nehru's industrial development started to give fruitful returns. When Indira came she brought various plans, reforms and schemes like banks, insurance and took Shastri's agriculture reforms to green revolution stage. Rajiv was 1st to make country pro-capalistic and in accordance with world.
Now question arises why I worte all this which for many here will be nonsense? Answer is simple, did we had currency printing machine to print new notes and do all this? From 90% below poverty line (and I don't mean by govt's BPL but real poor who earns less than rs 100 a month) to 80% in 64 years is worrisome data but don't forget we became triple in these 64 years.
Our balance of payments are negative since indendence but good thing is defecits in going down. So govt is doing it's job to bring down balance of payments. Not many kids jumping in this thread blasting guns and abusing politicians know that PV Narsimharao had payments for a week left and Manmohan Singh was Finance Minister that time brought drastic change which made him what he is now!
Economic disparities is another issue which is ages old and not just a 64 year old which governement didn't eradicate. Zameendaars and landless labours are from Mugal history and most populated states in India suffers from this disparity, UP, Bihar, Rajasthan, MP, Maharastra and Orrisa. Can someone from Kerala or Tamil Nadu say that there farmers are landless labours? Is Indian govt in past 64 years reponsible for this?
Now coming to poverty, why poverty still prevails? For that look at states which are poor - Bihar stands number 1, Jharkhand 2, UP 3 and Rajasthan Orissa 4th and 5th and north east comes 6th.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poverty_in_India One reason is given before, old zameendari system. Another reason is castism and uneducation. Now will Mr Taneja go to remote village in Orissa to teach Tribals leaving internet, electricity and television? Will any Anna Hazare fan go for that matter leaving family and luxury of city? Don't give me excuse why govt didn't do anything for tribals. They are tribals because they live in jungles and 80% of Orissa, Jharkhand, Chattisgarh and North East population lives in jungles. These tribals are big chunk in people who earn less than 100 but aren't they happy as any urban citizen? Yes they are. They do not need mobiles, eletricity, food from supermart and bike which eats 70% of urban income. They have food available in jungle, and bikes won't work there or mobile won't have network. In short thier basic needs is less than rs 100..!!
Doctors are not ready to work in class B towns forget villages. Education system in villages is worst than expected. Is government to be blamed? We have excess of teachers in India now but only for urban population. There is still lack of teachers in villages. Why don't Anna Hazare fans go to village and teach or give health service instead of wating time at ramlila ground? Blame on government for this also. Blaming is too easy. if India wins world cup people go hysteric but if they lose a test series blame from bcci to captain to old players to young players to ex-coach to new coach to wickets in India to lossing of toss but don't see that English team played way better than us. That's very Indian of us. Illogical and irrational. Just like people posting in this thread.
I said enough about corruption in past post which people didn't read for there convinence and for blaming. Corruption is menace and even superpowers like France, USA, China and UK are not in top 20s for least corrput nations. We need to change society and not bring some evil law which is above judicary. For everyone's knowledge China has captial punishment, kill person who is corrupt. Still it's not far behind corruption in compare to India. And they don't even have democracy where politicians do large chunk of corruption they are public republic and still small amount of bribery is most comman in China which as I said has capital punishment for small or big, any corruption.
Now go ahead and call me Rahul Gandhi, Digvijay Singh or Manmohan Singh and show your education background. If you can't debate, start abusing.
