Hello,
It is not true. Despite what Apple and Samsung try to tell you with gigahertz talk,
their recent 1+ GHz processors are much *slower* than 2004 Intel CPUs.
Besides it is not about horsepower but about lack for C++ development support on mobile platforms.
Andoid is Java based and everything-Java in slow and inefficient in terms of memory usage due to
forced use of garbage collection mechanisms. Google apparently found inherent limitations of it
and recently allows native development but current state of it is royal PITA.
Apple is evengelising their own flavour of "Objective C" which, despite the name, has very little common
with C++. Not to mention Apple "terms of service" for developers that are as far from being friendly as one
can only imagine.
Microsoft again made a mistake of doing fragmentated way and releasing "Windows RT" for ARM based devices
instead of regular Windows. This is the most stupid move one can do. If they simply compiled full blown
Windows 8 for ARM they would have a winner, but now they just fragmented the space. Plus their another stupid
move on dropping Windows API in favour of Windows Runtime which again breaks compatibility with existing code.
All "engines" that are supposed to address fragmentation in mobile development area are
game-centric.
All in all, all major vendors do NOTHING to make development of anything but stupid games easier,
and that is why nearly nothing serious is available on mobile platforms.
There is no chance for full blown AmiBroker on mobile, but as I said, I could make CHARTING-ONLY mobile app.
It would NOT appear under "AmiBroker" name because it would not even come close to AmiBroker.
It would be only about 10-15% of what AmiBroker on PC is now.
Also, be sure that I am NOT going to spend more than 10% of time on it.
Best regards,
Tomasz Janeczko
