Can't comment about FMCGs sir. But HEG has been popping on my radar on many parameters, be it revenue, profitability, historic PE or growth estimates by institutions. The only concern is that it is at peak currently, hardly 4-5% off its recent high. I am not competent to advise anything. My strategy is to hold cash as of now and may be some clarity will come by December 12. I hope there will be many buying opportunities and FOMA haste should be avoided.
Edit: Also it has rallied 1000% in the last 15 months.
(Btw also watch out for RBI statement in a few minutes from now
)
Regarding FMCG, i selected Dabur and Godrej after looking at their product portfolios and past performance(in past 16 years both have doubled the money every 4 years, although no one knows the future).
Dabur is more into food segment. I have been using various products of Dabur myself like Real juice, Honey, Hajmola, Chayawanprash, hair oil. (However it has come under pressure since patanjali is eating into its business as many if not all products are in direct competition with patanjali).
Godrej is more into non food products like Good Knight, Hit spray, Cinthol, protekt hand wash, hair dye etc and also earn decent income from exports too.
Demand for both should go up in coming years. Let's see.
HEG skyrocketed after usage of electric arc furnace started going up mainly due to pollution control in china. I think India will also follow may be after some years. I will be averaging HEG slowly.
I would also try to learn some technical stuff too for swing trading (this is my post retirement plan along with teaching Physics/Chemistry/CS
)
