Doubt regd. using any Software

Hello,

I am using Moneycontrol Portfolio tool for the stock trading. I also made Watch list to track the stocks which I wanted to buy. So, my question is, apart from getting rid of using a browser:

a) what is the advantage of using any Stock market software?
b) I used JStock just to check it out. What is the most used or best free stock market tool?

I am trying to understand whether I could gain/earn money (mainly Intraday) using such softwares? Please respond.
