Brunei has made celebrating Christmas a criminal offence

Anyone found illegally celebrating Christmas in Brunei could face up to five years in prison, according to a reported declaration by the Sultan of the tiny oil-rich state.

Brunei introduced its ban on Christmas last year over fears that celebrating it "excessively and openly" could lead its Muslim population astray.

Christians and others can celebrate Christmas, but must do so in private and have to first alert the authorities.

Local Islamic religious leaders have promoted the ban, warning that adopting the trappings of Christmas is tantamount to imitation of another faith, prohibited in some interpretations of Islam.

PS:Talk about intolerance and secularism in India
Now the so called intellectuals fraternity, should know, what is intolerance in reality.

True... However comparison should be made with the best, and not the worst....

To even think of comparing the largest democracy in the world to tin pot rulers from Brunei, North Korea or Saudi Arabia is to dis-service to our country....

Now the so called intellectuals fraternity, should know, what is intolerance in reality.

Here comes India’s first contactless digital payment ecosystem from Mahindra group!

Tech Mahindra, the digital arm of the Mahindra group, has launched India’s first contactless digital payment ecosystem, MoboMoney. The prepaid wallet, MoboMoney, can be used to ‘Tap n Pay’ on a network of NFC (Near-Field Communication) enabled Merchant POS. With this, customers without an NFC-enabled phone can also use the Tap n Pay to purchase goods.

India’s first commercial NFC ecosystem rollout, MoboMoney allows consumers to load their wallet by paying cash at its over 1,000 retail network, helping convert cash into e-cash. The money loaded into the customers’ digital wallets can then be used to Tap n Pay for over the counter payments, recharges, make bill payments, etc,” the company said in a statement.

Sir,

It is not about comparison, it is about mindset & method, when they are in minority they demand all sorts of rights, the moment they have majority, rights of every other community vaporizes.

Hello, there is No They, there is only US...A disaster like Chennai floods would prove that to you just in case you need convincing, don't wait for that to happen to you, just believe in the US. India belongs to us all of different languages, religions and communities, we are all equally Indian, unlike a Brunei or another country where the rules you are quoting are targeted at non-natives. Every Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Parsi, Buddhist, Jain in India is native Indian, just try to remember that.

Monkeybusiness....

While coming from a traditional religious family, I have now come to now believe that all religions, the way they are being practiced, have got very little to do with God or spirituality....

Religion, instead of being enlightening, about compassion, brotherhood and a call for service and simple life, today has become a reason to divide brother against brother, a reason to kill, blindly follow dogma and be closed to reason. And a section of fanatic followers (small or big) from all religion - give it a bad name.....

The Christian church has been guilty of child abuse, corruption, and inducements to convert.

The Muslims have fanatics and hate mongers resorting to butchering of innocents and raping women and children.

Buddhist monks in Burma and Sri Lanka, have been accused of resorting to rape, killing and persecution of the minority Muslims.

And in our own country, we have unfortunately as religious leaders or spokesperson who incite hate (Ek haat mein mala, tho dusri haat mein bhala) (and these guys are wildly applauded and cheered by 'educated' studio audience) seeming as though it is a theater audience of a C grade movie. And of course, Sadhvi's Prachi, Sadhvi Pragya, Sakshi Maharaj (accused of rape and murder) not to mention the likes of Asaram Bapu among others are the ones who give religion a bad name....

Practice of religion should be what brings us closer to God, Allah, Buddha, Bhrama, Krishna, Rama or Vishnu (or whoever we believe in) But in reality and practice, it is what we follow blindly, missing the essence of what being spiritual is all about.....
