comparison between regular online trading accounts and direct trading accounts

hi,
i seek senior trading members help to understand difference between direct trading account and online trading accounts, like axisdirect and others , is there any difference at all? being a newbe can i get on with online trading or initiate my trading with offline trade? if any relivent advices in this regard please guide me , let this thread be helpfull to other beginers like me . thank to all replies in advance , pleas post u r advices.

according to us books on financial markets i read they say direct trading accounts give access to level 2 quotes, n the the other accounts give to level 1 quotes . are these same with indian setup?
