Best ELSS(Tax saving mutual funds)

Re: Need suggestions in choosing Tax Saving MF

My pick would be Birla Sunlife Tax Relief 96 or Fidelity Tax Advantage.

Though these 2 funds do not have much history to boast off, both have a good one year performance and have maintained a large cap bias in thier portfolio. Given that there is a lock in period of three year period, I would be concerned if my tax saving mf has a large exposure to mid/small caps.

If you do not mind taking the risk, you could go for star performers like Magnum Tax gain, HDFC Taxsaver or Birla Equity Plan.

Re: Tax Saving Mutual Fund

Thanks John for ur info..actually I want invest like 2000/- per month...Is SBI Magnum stable fund ?
dear

As the ELSS fund have a lock-in period of 3 yrs, most fund manager
invests in Smallcap and Midcap companies. Second thing, as MFs are linked
to Equity market there is always a risk involved (SIP minimizes/averages the risk).

About SBI Magnum, after there star fund manager left, SBI funds are not performing well compared to others....I would suggest you to go for HDFC Taxsaver.....or others like Sundaram, Principal etc....

Or you can do onething, if impressed by SBI's past return, invest 1000 there and 1000 with other fund....

have a nice day
JB
