R K Global Issues!

Can anyone confirm if RK Global ODIN allows real-time data to be imported to Excel tick-by-tick? Is that facility enabled by default or is it possible to request them for enabling it? Thanks.

Well actually the data is stored real time tick by tick in a text file in ODIN\Data

Tried using it as a data source in xl with auto refresh. After a few minutes ODIN crashed. Did not try it again. :)

Maybe it was a freak problem, or maybe it happens when the file is accessed by both xl and odin at the same time.

Thanks much for the response.

Is this plain text or csv file data. Is it possible for you to upload a snapshot of the file if it does not contain any confidential information?

It has a .txt extention, but the format is csv. Here is a sample:

100019,4458.70,20.00
100023,4458.00,20.00
100031,4457.40,20.00
100035,4456.90,20.00
100039,4458.00,20.00

Time, Price, lot size (not of much use).

I was hoping to use it in Fibotrader or similar software to have a real time bar chart with varying time frames 5 min, 15 min , etc.
In case you are successful please let us know.

So volume does not get stored in the same file? Does it get stored anywhere else? Also do you get separate files for separate securiteis?

I do not have RK account yet, but thinking of getting it soon depending on accessibility of real-time data.

If you want to use this file in some other program, I think it should be possible to copy it automatically onto some other file and then open the copied file in your software. That way there is less chance of interference of two processes.

However, there should probably be a more robust way. The help file of ODIN says they have a facility of "Open in Excel View" in client facilities which needs to be specially enabled.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Oh I am sorry, I think the last field is volume. I have seen it go to 40, 80, etc elsewhere in the file. Cant understand how volume can be in such easy multiples.

Yes, a different file for each contract, security, and index.

I have R. K. Global account now. wooho.

Though I have some minor problems to face with like
I have icici account and have to pay online to there icici account and then call them to make entries as R K Global only has HDFC online available.
Second issue is with there odin which shows only 20 active scripts at a time! More than that if entered will not refresh.

But such small issues can be ignored as we have to pay very less brokerage.:)

From monday I am starting trading.

Guys lets keep our R K Global community engaged.

cheers.;)
