I am new to share market. As most of layman says i too feel trading is just gambling. If not, can any one give me some good reasons in simple language to understand. Also in some brokers website displayed, if you have invested this much amount, your returns will be this much (head spinning!) big amounts.

Please say something new. Such jaundiced opinion about stock markets in general and traders in particular is centuries old. Those who have lost all that they had when they ventured into investing/trading in stock market, with nothing more than just hope of striking rich, have always dubbed this place as a 'gambler's den'. Others who have been successful have sung a different tune.

If you really believe trading is akin to gambling why get interested in it in the first place?

In anything maths involved ,can not be termed as GAMBLING.
In gambling INSTINCTS play a vital role.In stockmarkets also
instincts play a crucial role.May be ,it is the reason behind
calling stock markets as gambling dens.

Lets think of it this way...!

Fact is trading is not at all easy.... fact is 90% people who try to trade loose money... fact is opinion will be polarised by the huge percentage who tried and lost... Fact is its a zero sum game... the money lost by the 90% is made by the 10% people...! Fact is top income tax payers are mostly people deriving income from this market...!

The question is... how can the smartest people, who pay the highest income tax consistently... be gamblers...?

your reply is 100% perfect,20 years back it was a lala type business, but now it require a very high skill leval & that skill leval comes only if you trade it on the basis of mathematical formulas, say mathetical lower/upper/pivot point supports AND MATH IS NOT A GAMBLE NOR AN ART BUT IT IS SCIENCE,SO TRADING IS NEAR TO SCIENCE THESE DAYS THANKS
