How many politicians who govern us, do so to serve the country? Sadly, it is a very, very small percentage. MP's, MLA's, even municipal civic officials mint crores - tens, hundreds or thousands... their official wealth increases in hundreds or thousands of % over a period of 5-6 years.... (not taking into account unofficial wealth) and nobody even blinks an eye, and no questions are asked......

Just Bombay Municipal Corp. has a budget of 30,000 crores annually. Multiply this amount across cities across India.... How much of this is pilfered thru the system with business, contractor and politician nexus? Rajiv Gandhi, while serving as a Prime Minister had said, that only 15% of govt. expenditure is spent for the purpose it is intended... Rest is wasted away while polticians and corrupt officials pocket the major chunk of it.....

Just to give a small example, my friend had applied for a tender for pest control services in govt. hospital across the state.... The estimate was Rs. 3 crores. He was called by the bureaucrat in charge for discussion and told point blank - The tender would be granted to him provided he paid upfront 1.5 crore (50%) of the contract value in cash for allocation to the politician and officials, who would share the same among them.... He remarked, if he gave the money, he would not be able to even recover his cost... The reply he got was - Do not worry about it. You do not have to do anything. We will sign the work completion certificates.... So essentially, for the amount of Rs. 3 crores spent by the govt. it would not get services for even 10% of the money spent... Multiply such tenders, contracts across the country.....

Why do I not hold loyalty to any party or politicians or am skeptical about them? Because they do not have the interest of the country or the people at heart... It is selfishness rather than desire to serve the country that they join politics.... But fool the people by making emotional issues and invoking patriotism, nationalism, religion etc... And the masses are easy to fool...

Who is running MCD in Delhi? Who is running BMC in Mumbai? Or municipal corporation in Banglore? Just look at the state of roads, drainage, and services.... Can anyone say that they are happy in the way the cities are run? All parties without exception are part of the scheme to loot the country.... And we, the gullible, foolish people, vote for them every five years... The parties coming into power changes, but the game continues.... sadly. Nothing much will change.....

Your friend should have filed a case and inform ACB about this.
or you should have done this with all the details you have.

and other good option is to approach the concerned court of law.

Mohan.Sic,

Thanks, that is good advise, however reality is different in my view.... Can say this from experience. The laws for the politicians are different - sadly. And they can get away scot free and without fear of punishment - even if caught red handed.....

For e.g In Maharashtra, the Anti Corruption Bureau has caught over 300 bureaucrats red handed in cases of corruption, but when the ACB approached the BJP govt. for permission to prosecute them, the govt. denied permission and is sitting on the files... This is the same govt. which promised to go after corruption in their election manifesto!:mad::mad:

http://thewire.in/5070/fadnavis-is-making-it-difficult-to-go-after-corrupt-public-officials/

Just another instance - last month the BJP Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar reinstated his brother-in-law Dilip Malvankar into service though he was arrested by Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) while accepting a bribe in the office. :annoyed::annoyed::annoyed:

http://www.heraldgoa.in/Goa/CM-bats-for-brotherinlaw-defends-reinstatement/103035.html

These are just two examples.... Can give many more.... If a person caught red handed and that too by Anti Corruption Bureau while taking bribes in office can get away easily, one can understand the rot in the system... There are thousands of such cases across the country, where the corrupt officials not only go scot free, but are even promoted.... There is no sense of service, duty or shame....

There are reports that even for placement of police/inspectors/excise/custom officers money changes hands... It is open secret.... And that is the reason, why I do not believe any words of politician or any political party... (where do they get thousands of crores to fight election?) And as I keep saying, we need to hold our politicians accountable by their actions, and not by their words, where they try to divide and rule the people in name of caste, language, region/state or religion....:mad::mad:

As DSM has pointed out very aptly about the state of affairs of the system which is rotten to stink badly.

Have you noticed very recently in few months how judges after judges are withdrawing themselves from cases of corruption involving kith & kin of men in power. This in itself states the pathetic condition our legal system is residing in.

After Uttarakhand , its now Arunachal Pradesh where Supreme Court found the technical fault in usurping the power.

Centre should keep patience for Congress mukt Bharat by proving on ground rather than snatching legitimate chosen seats.

These kind of decisions are only strengthening Congress' claims.

I think the people are really looking for 'Corruption mukt Bharat' and not necessarily Congress mukt Bharat, though it is a catchy slogan.... The irony though is Congress is bumbling its way around and not making it easier for itself to get back into reckoning (Appointing Kamalnath as Congress 'in charge' of poll bound Punjab - a monumental blunder considering that he was indicted by the Nanavati commission as involved in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots!!! What were they even thinking (or not))

On the subject of corruption, there is only a difference of perception as far as common man is concerned.... The killer pot holes in the state capital of Mumbai will tell you that nothing has really changed... unfortunately... This article clearly tells you the power of money rules politics.... and the common man not only suffers but even some even pay with their life due to corruption ridden roads around the country..... So earlier it was one set of politicians who had to be paid off to another set (for sub standard work or even work not done!)

Media is trying overwhelmingly to portray a very clean picture but on ground reality what is happening is something else.

Tall claims have fallen badly on face & the condition is that now after an appeal for 60 months , next phase of 60 months for same claims are being begged for.

As far as Congress is concerned , they have no idea about whom to look for. Same old stamped corrupt faces come in front shining with smiles whenever they have something at hands to shout.

India is really reeling under the burden of vote bank politics.
