Well, i m not going to sugar coat it for you, but if you are out of touch with the Software development fundamentals. I suggest you brush up on it and hunt for a job. It will not be easy , but if you can clear the interviews, you can certainly get a job.

If you are good at technical analysis , then why get in to a software. Setup a nice big account and trade for yourself.

I do not know your financial situation , but like most of us we want to do that one day. until that day comes , i guess we all have to work.

There are plenty , i mean plenty of companies in bangalore with open positions. Keep hunting..

Good luck!!

you will not believe the kind of people that jobs in software industry these days. Most do not even know how to code and even put proper comments in code and they seem to get jobs. you on the other hand have some experience and skills, you should not find it difficult to get a job.

Remember , if you want to earn money in software industry, learn to code and code well.I will hire you myself.

Very interesting. With the spread of computer education, I would've thought that there was an overabundance of programmers in the market.

Hhahahahhahah TP, you have no idea...

I have been a Software engineer for 9 years now and i have interviewed and worked with many people and i m telling you this from experience. I find it very hard to get people to code. I have worked in 2-3 companies and i can tell you i still have to find one person who can code well.

The general observation about Indian software and outsourcing is that Indians are bad programmers. I have to agree with that. There are roughly 95% bad programmers and 5% good programmers , but the good ones are not in India.

Like anything, write good code takes time , effort and dedication to improving your art. But i do not see in that in most Indians. Most Indians get in to Software industry just to pay the bills, they have no passion for it.

I am making an effort to improve my teams code quality consistently, but has been the most challenging.

Let me know what more you want to know about this..

Is it only the programmers who are bad, or is it the human chain throughout the software development life cycle ?? I mean, software development is a long process - feasibility study --> analysis --> design --> programming --> testing --> implementation etc..etc.. with detailed documentation at each stage.

I used to be a freelance programmer for more than a decade (1989-2001) and worked on DOS based platform (FoxPro). I found that the place where most of the mistakes were made at the analysis stage. The changes that were required later killed the application sometimes. Though FoxPro was perhaps the most advanced database at that time and flexible enough to accommodate most of the changes, I still felt the limitations sometimes.

These days, with improved tools - both software and hardware -- a lot of coding effort has become redundant. If the analysis & design is good, then for the programmer it is only a matter of picking the right tools (libraries/code snippets) and sewing them together (much like making an assembled PC :)).

Earlier, almost everything needed hardwiring and each programmer developed his own re-usable code which helped, though to a limited extent.

So, where exactly the problem lies ? In the software education or the logical skills of the developer ? All the students of IT have to undergo at least 6 months of industrial training till the graduate level, and at post-graduate level there's only more of it.

my 2 cents..

I think it is the level of commitment that's the problem. Most choose short cuts to success.
