Backtesting and trading camarilla pivots

Thank you Radha! :thumb:

I went to the link given by you and captured the data [attached image]
I would like to know which one do we trade with Camarilla, the one expiring on aug27 , sept24, or oct29?
If i am not wrong oct29 would be less volatile as it is far off, then comes sept24 and then aug27. As aug27 is more volatile we trade in it. right?

plz enlighten us.

Today update so far

Camarilla based on NIFTY FUT
1> LONG above 4619 Target 4635 SL 4500
2> SHORT 4578 Target 4550 SL 4595
3> LONG 4495 Target 4570 SL 4480
4> SHORT 4454 Target 4430 SL 4474

Bought 4620 Sold 4635
Gain = 15 Points (as per my needs)

Camarilla based on NIFTY CASH
1> Buy above 4605 target 4625,4635 SL 4590
2> Sell below 4565 target 4500 , SL 4585
3> Buy 4495 target 4565 , SL 4480
4> Sell below 4448 target 4420 SL 4474

Bought 4605 Sold 4635
Gain = 30 Points (more than needs)

Will post the trades if I do any later after 1.10pm and let you guys know. Also I am experimenting Camarilla with Nifty FUT and CASH values to see which gives a better return with FUT trades.

One more important thing is to reset Camarilla like today when market is mostly in H3, H4 levels at around 10.30 or 11.30 as per gurus. I have not tried this and this also needs to be looked into.

Now I have calculated reset the values of Camarilla as per guru here taking 11am values
Taking the values for NIFTY CASH first
Here is what I am using
CURRENT VALUE = CLOSE = 4610
HIGH till 11am = HIGH = 4618
LOW till 11am = LOW = 4597

Modified Camarilla at 11am should be
H4 - 4622
H3 - 4616

L3 - 4606
L4 - 4598

I took these values from the NIFTY CASH chart on NSE-INDIA. The intention is to :
A> See if the process and calculations are correct
B> Check if it works

Unfortunately I could not get the value for nifty fut,
Gurus and vetarans please comment

Hello Kdhrubo
I was able to calculate R4, R3 as 4619 and 4578. :)
But today i did only paper based trading.
Original excel sheet posted did not have Target calculation
Kindly enlighten us how did you calculate 'Target' and 'SL' for NIFTY FUT. I think your SL for R4 has typo..is 4500 not too low?

Hi,
Thanks for pointing out, yes its a typo. It should be 4600.:thumb:
Now coming to targets and SL. Since my needs are just about 15-20 points I keep the target that way and same for SL. At the moment I am playing a bit defensive since I am also putting this system to test.
Also I have observed that if you trade NIFTY FUT watching NIFTY CASH you tend to enter the trend early and gain higher points. But its just a preliminary observation which needs to be verified in the long run. I will keep posting my levels etc for now and devise a more mathematical/scientific method to calculate T1,T2 etc and SL.

Also can anyone please comment on the post to reset the camarilla levels when we trade consistently in H3-H4 and > H4.
Although I do not find any strong reason, but some guru may enlighten us with a logical view.

~Cheers dhrubo

Nifty Futures Profit for 24th August 2009.

Nifty Futures opened at 4599.70.

This is between H4(4619) and H3(4578).

So we buy H4 and sell below H3.

Buy above H4 triggered.

we keep 0.5% Target = 4642.095 (achieved).

next target is 1% = 4665.19(achieved) High was 4667.9

so total profit = 1% = 44 points.

Profit of 2000+ with one lot on Nifty.

Note that market was moving in one direction today, so stoploss never got hit today.

NIFTY FUT Trade ideas based on both NIFTY FUT and Cash in the attached images. I will keep target 20 points and SL 15 points. Also there is a high chance of profit booking at 4680-90 tomorrow as US market is not showing strength watch out.

Hi,
kdhrubo,

You are right. :thumb:

Though I do not trade in Nifty future or spot; EOD of nifty SPOT & Nifty future if plotted the trend is clearly visible. I saw the graph somebudy was explainning ..... hmmmm.....do not remmember .

I deal only with equities and the method was not useful in equities hence did not bother much.If recollect it, will definitely send to you. Post your id here with( like xyz yahoo dot com etc otherwise will be deleted by the moderater) I can give you a clue. ;)
It was buy Nifty future as soon as you spotted that the Nifty spot dips and reverses and viceversa for sell if you are on line all the time. If you device a method with camarilla it will be a great benifit to the members here.:)

Regards,

CNB
