Request to review below portfolio

Hello All,

I am new to MF investment. I am looking for long term investment for retirement (25 yrs) and for kids education (20 yrs).

At the age of 30, pls advise if selection of funds in my porfolio is appropriate.
Below are the funds I am planning to buy with SIP.

2]Birla sun life frontline Plan A (L)-----2000
3]IDFC Premier Equity Plan A (S & M)------2000
4]DSPBR Top 100 (L)-----------------------2000
5]HDFC Top 100 (L)------------------------3000
6]HDFC Equity (Diversified)---------------3000
7]Principal emerging blue chip (M&S)------3000
8]HDFC Prudence---------------------------2000
9]Reliance Gold fund----------------------1000

Long Term Plan is good

Mid Cap

Reliance Growth 25%
Sundram Select Midcap 25%

Large Cap
HDFC Top 200 30%
or
Birla Frontline

Gold Fund 20 %

Balance Portfolio for Long term view
Your Horizon is long that why max in Mid cap funds

It will be best to stick to 5 or so funds. Gold is different asset class, I won't comment on it.

- I would keep only one of HDFC Prudence, Top 200, HDFC Equity. Note, all of those are good funds. My preference is to HDFC Equity.
- Principal Emerging Blue Chip - skip, it doesn't have any history
- IDFC Premier Equity is supposed to be closed, even for SIP
- Keep one of Fidelity or Birla
- Consider Quantum LT Equity
