I was searching for a fund that will give me moderate returns (FD style, 8-9% pa) and should be tax free (like MF if I redeem it after 1 year).

I came across>> ICICI Prudential Equity and Derivatives Fund - Income Optimiser Plan

I think Arbitrage and Derivatives is a good option in very unstable market.

I started SIP in this fund, with intention to start a small saving each month. Even after so much meltdown, the returns are still +ve. Meaning, I have not lost my capital at least.

MF gurus can let me know if this is a safe bet.

This fund is hedged 100%. So you cannot have negative returns (unless extremely poorly managed). On top of it the returns are tax free!! Arbitrage funds are good funds to have in a portfolio.

The only disadvantage is the aribitrage oppurtunities may dry up in a low volume market. So the returns may be slightly lower.

I dont think ICICI Prudential Equity and Derivatives Fund - Income Optimiser Plan has given decent retrun as comapred to others.

No offense but there nust be others in same category which must have given returns more than 10%

Not only ICICI, but HDFC, Reliance, IDFC, Birla Sun life, Sundaram, DSPBR etc etc., too have SIP. Please read more about Systematic Investment Plan [SIP] in this forum. Spent some time in various sections. That will be worth to make good financial planning in your life. All the very best.:thumb:
