Explains why I stopped taking Contra altogether from this year - totally. This was my finding on my trades well. The issue is, shorting at times is not bad. But it brings in the habit of 'calling top' on each upsurge and that is a deadly mistake. So , the value of winning 1-2 contra, brings the ill effect of losing more than that in contra. If you can stop this - it will help. I kept it simple for me, no Contra as long as price above STI on daily. Fine to lose the opportunities of shorting. At least I have only algo running in my mind - buy, buy, buy - whenever there is a situation of dynamic or fixed support.

Good decision @ Nifty, But taking intra on high beta stocks in direction of daily trend (whenever a situation permits) - is actually not bad. I kept myself restricted to crude as don't have time for enough screentime for BNF.
Have copied your post and pasted it on my daily checklist. Contra has been my biggest killer too. Will try to follow this and not short based on short term trends. Looking back now in the month of Feb and march anyone who bought every dip made money. Whilst they probably made it off people like me:lol:

Maybe check on other timeframes too. In case of Unionbank futures, it looked green on 1 min, but red bar on other TF upto 15 min.
