Such necessary margins needed to be kept in acct always while holding the position. If not able to have more money, you should not be betting the full amount.

Now just call the broker and negotiate kindly with them the full penalty charges (not the deficit) by saying so that you will continue trade with them and pay the full deficit.

If your broker is not so kind of you, pay deficit+penalties and close the brokerage acct with them.

Is that was a overnight position? There may be huge gap up open and your broker couldn't get any opportunity to close at any better level.

it was intraday only..
