Tesla Motors offered to buy Elon Musk's SolarCity for $2.8 billion

Elon Musk, the founder of the "Tesla Motors" company made a business offer from the company "Tesla Motors" to buy the company "SolarCity" where he is the Chairman of the Board of Directors and shareholder.

"SolarCity" is power company in the United States, specializing in the design and production of solar energy systems. The company was founded in 2006 by two businessmen, by the way, relatives of Elon Musk.

Buying "SolarCity" the company will provide an opportunity to expand the range of services provided by the Tesla Motors, namely, the use of solar energy to recharge the Tesla car. By making a bid, Elon Musk recalled that the Tesla Motors began production of batteries "Powerwall" and "Powerpack", have several advantages over the "SolarCity" batteries such companies. A company "SolarCity", in turn, will be able to offer customers use new "Tesla Motors" batteries. Also Elon Musk justified the better deal in that, after the transaction, it will be easier to combine battery charging for cars and solar power system in one mechanism.

Musk estimated the offer at $2.8 billion, or more precisely, not to redeem its shares at a price of $26,5-25,8 per share. The offered price per share is 30% more than the market, as of the end of trading on Tue.
