after 3 days holidays, market will come back to the range 4700-4900

since march series has just started today, the time decay will act against the LONG holders

sagar from mumbai (rock007007) today 26/2/2010 i can trade nifty call and put bhoth stike prize call 5000 that premeum as 93 and put 4700 premeum as 83 that both march seriese today morning 11.20am that may i by both call and put but sadnely 11.30am both srike prize as go dowen call as that 80rs and put that time 60 both site may i loss may exicute as call that premeum 100rs and put premeum 42 may loss around 47 point when was my misteke and hou can i calculate call put asxat value please please gaide me all seniers Thank you

Hi Bandlab - Yes time decay always plays against option buyers.

I am not really worried about the straddle to be honest and will hold it until expiry.

Straddle Total Price is now @ 95 (5000 Call) + 65 (4800 Put) = 160 * 50 = 8000. Loss of around 2750 Rs. Per Pair.... Premium has fallen very badly...

Dear Deepak - Last month the premium had fallen by 50% at one point during the month but finally gave 10% profits overall. This happens in options.

Remember, straddle is a bet on movement and if markets become rangebound the straddle holders will lose.

Nifty hit 100EMA in the month of FEB-2010 quite many times. The last I can see on my charts is on 26-Feb-10.

Market behaving range bound, and actually waiting for some input to move in one of either directions.

Also, It's pretty easy to read and follow your very simple yet very effective strategies which mostly revolve round EMA concept.

If permitted by you, Let me ask you to the concept of your learning and just not the learning itself.

What I mean is, you learn something, test and in very true spirit share with us all. But the actual concept which tells you, Just for example that NIFTY has to touch 100EMA within a maximum of 28 weeks before heading anywhere else

COMES FROM WHERE ( in caps just to highlight).

Please share if you can.

Come from nowhere actually except from my brain ... since childhood I have been very fond of observing patterns and then draw up rules for repetetion... I used to give mock CAT/MAT exams just for fun and there you are presented random looking numbers/figures and you need to predict ' what next in the series'... I am sure many here would have seen those questions.... I got my knack of observing patterns amongst random looking data from there....

I give a lot of credit to Elder's books though which explained me basics about Trading and Charting...

and I am sure I am not done yet .. I will keep reading charts and unearthing peculiar trends.. will keep sharing here.

and yes, this is the first time I am seeing Nifty sticking around 100 EMA for so many days in the last 6-7 years data I have with me.... strange but good.. anomolies excite me!

Regarding The 200EMA : Nifty Futures Touches its 200 EMA on 22/05/2008. After that Nifty Futures touched its 200 EMA after 11 Months on 09/04/2009 and remained there till 29/04/2009 (this is the time it last touched 200 EMA). Now after that 11 Months has passed and it hasn't touched 200 EMA till now. Does It looks to touch 200 EMA in this month??? I Don't know about retesting on 200EMA. So, please share your views....

I think 200ema touch has been done in Feb '10. For 200 ema, 1% off may be taken as done. SH : your opinion please.
