a) To enjoy the corporate action you need to buy it on any day before the ex-date

b) Hold it for a normal settlement Of T+2 & you may sell it thereafter, without affecting your corporate action benefit.

c) BC start & end date is of no consequence it is only for registrars of the company to compile a report of all the benficiaries as of one day before the ex-date

d) credit of dividend is varies, while some companies are very very prompt, then there are those that take their own sweet time... (Hopefully SEBI will come up with some sort of ruling in the future for dividend distribution and etc. being timebound)

Hi I hav some doubts in the share terminologies

For Instance I buy a share on 15-Sep-2010, whose Ex-Date is 16-Sep-10 and the BC start and End date are 20-Sep to 27-Sep. As I hav bought the shares a day before Ex-date,
1) can I enjoy corporate actions said by the company and
2) how long should I hold these shares for getting the dividend.
3) If I am eligible in how manys days will I get my dividend amount credited to my account.
4) How does the BC start and end days relate to holding the shares.
