NOVICE IN Mutual Funds TRADING PORTIFOLIO

Dear,
* I am [email protected] .I retired from my govt job few months back.
I am totally new to trading , as I am a doctor ,so got no time for
trading .Now I have time & money.
* I want to invest some money in MUTUAL FUND sector. SIPS , in Large
cap ,Mid cap MFs etc.
* I am ready to take RISKS. Time period 8-10 years minimum.
* How to chalk out PORTIFOLIO i.e. how to divide my Portifolio .How to
select MFs in each part .WHICH GROPS I SHOULD INCLUDE in portifolio and
which MF,Long term Equities under each part I should go e.g. Under Large
Cap . how many MF & which are the best at present, similarly in MID CAP.
* Yet to open a DEMAT ACCOUNT.
Guide me in this regard from ABC .. so that I may be able to move furthur. I am in LUDHIANA , punjab.

Step 1 : get your KYC done [if not done already]
Step 2 : Demat a/c not necessary for Mutual Fund investment. Many MF houses offer online transaction facility [hdfc, birla, reliance etc etc]. And then there are sites like mutualfundsindia.com which offer everything in one place. BOTH options are FREE.

great. then you can venture into equity mutual fund even at this post retirement stage.

depends on your financial goal. Once your financial goal is clear with time frame, schemes selection is easy.
Stick to max. 5 mf schemes - over diversification is not a good thing.
