Mutual Fund Q'S

Hi ALL ,
I am new to investing in mutual funds,

i hav some question 's

1) difference between debt & equity funds ?
2)difference between dividend re-investment & GROWTH ?

3)i had investd 10,000 ON sep 24 th in icici indo-asia equity funds & the NAV AT THE TIME is RS10.00 @ 1 share,NOW THE NAV IS 9.89 @ 1
--does it mean that the value of that is decreased.

suppose now if i get the same ,the cost will be 9.89 @1 . IS THAT CORRECT?

Pls answer the above Q'S & request is not to mention any links

we can't say b'coz it might be decreased due to market fall or it might be decreased due to entry load!!!
