Cool SS. Unlike most things that we think are, volatility is really cyclical. So its good to see that your VIX has shrunk!

How about reviving this old thread to check if now VIX has become a significant factor/indicator? Can the experts please throw some light on the matter?

Initially the experienced members had 2 objection with VIX a) Lack of historical data, as its was a new index b) there is some calculation problem. I think objection (A) must have been eliminated by now. So is it any useful now?
