i would say i can bear around 50%
u have any good funds in mind that some good companies like Kotak ,icici or reliance might have?
In that case I would recommend Equity Diversified Funds. They also will suite your long investment horizon.

For starting you can consider SIP's in 2 or 3 funds.

Choose 1 large cap fund from

HDFC Top 200
Birla Sun Life Frontline Equity
DSPBR Top 100
Franklin India Bluechip Fund

Choose 1 Mid cap fund from

IDFC Premier Equity
DSPBR Small & Mid Cap Fund
Sundaram Select Mid Cap
Birla Sun Life Mid Cap Plan A
ICICI Pru Discovery
Reliance Growth

Choose 1 Multicap Fund from

Reliance Regular Savings Equity
DSPBR Equity
ICICI Pru Dynamic
UTI Dividend Yield
SBI Magnum Contra

The fund defines the small and mid cap stocks as follows: any stock having market capitalisation below Rs. 250 crores as a small cap stock and any stock having market capitalisation between Rs 250 crore to Rs. 1500 crore as a mid cap stock.

ICICI Pru Emerging STAR

Fund Objective: The scheme aims to generate capital appreciation by actively investing in diversifiedmid cap stocks. It will invest primarily in companies that have a market capitalizationbetween Rs.100 crores to Rs.2000 crores.
