Hi sundy,
I am using FC for a couple of months .My system had crash last week.lost all data .previously i was usig DE utility to download historical data. now it is not functioning. how can i add nse historical data for one year to FC ?

Thanks in Advance
Hi MunnaBhai,

The link given at in my signature takes you ao many DataDownloaders and other software developed by members of Traderji. You may use any and all are free.

I beg to differ.

NSE Bhav copy has quotes for all the series traded on that day. What a normal investor needs is the EQ /BE series only. Some stocks are repeated under other series also with the same symbol.
Is that a peculiar feature of Indian stocks?

Next, While some TA software like AB accept data in any sequence, some like FCharts insists that data be presented in the standard sequence only.
Now, that is definitely NOT so.

(OK. There may have been a time when it was true of the NSE, BSE exchanges, but since FCharts is purchased by many on the subcontinent, it certainly isn't now. Simon Haynes is a very accommodating programmer and attends to user requests wherever he can.)

Yes, Actually, the symbol is NOT unique, but the symbol+Series is unique. NSE refers to the symbol+Series while referring to an instrument.

As an example, abstract of yesterday's Bhav copy presented below, to the extent the 'symbol duplication takes place. (sorry for jumbled data)

Surely could be.

PS: I have used the free version of FCharts some months back and not recently. I could be wrong also.

I think this can be treated the following way.

Add the 'series' to the symbol name. That gives you BRITANNIA EQ and BRITANNIA N1.

With FCharts 2 about to appear (don't ask for the date, though!), you will have an unlimited number of WatchLists so everyone can have a separate list for the 'EQ', 'N1', up to N'x' (or any other series the NSE, BSE can dream up) in any combination that suits them.

there is another datadownloader for fcharts and other charting software called datadownloader in www.volumedigger.com. and it is well tested in fchartse.
the site has enogh help hints. i am using this downloader for eq of nse. data for future and indices importing will be tricky(i didnt tryed).it is free. try it

Here is an Indian perspective on downloading into FCharts. (Off the official FCharts forum!)

Hi

I've been using FCharts Pro since last 6 years and I never tried
import using Yahoo Finance. You can download EOD prices as well as
index values directly from NSE.

There is a thread in Traderji forum on how to import EOD into
FCharts. Here's the link:

http://www.traderji.com/f-chart/15055-how-import-eod-fcharts-10.html#post406857

This procedure may appear lengthy at first but becomes easy once you
get used to it.

EOD prices (bhavcopy) can be downloaded from here:

http://www.nseindia.com/content/equities/cmbhav.htm

Nifty values can be downloaded from here:

http://www.nseindia.com/content/indices/ind_histvalues.htm

Hi everybody,
thanks for all ur support. I don't have knowledge of computers except starting it and using net. So wanted to know few things related to FCHARTS PRO & FCHARTS SE
1) Are they EOD based or RT based
2)which one is better for newbees like me
3)Is it necessary to download Data Extractor for importing data to FCHARTS
4)Can you download the datas of NSE EQUITY, FUTURES, BSE EQUITIES, INDEX all together.
PLZ. REPLY
THANKS

1) Are they EOD based or RT based
... ... ... ... Both/Either (your choice)
2)which one is better for newbees like me
... ... Pro has more features (indicators) that can be used at once, therefore, needs a greater understanding.
3)Is it necessary to download Data Extractor for importing data to FCHARTS .
.. No.
4)Can you download the datas of NSE EQUITY, FUTURES, BSE EQUITIES, INDEX all together.
... ... If you can find a data provider for all of those.

HAPPY DIWALI to ALL.

Hi Venkatesh,

Thanks for above information.

I would like to have a look at you utilities for RT data and Excel file, Appreciate if you can provide more details.
