Getting closer to price and volume

I can't think of any reason why tape reading doesn't work in indian mkt (for that matter in any trading market). That is the basic foundation of price movement i.e. fine balance of demand supply.. Forget the exchange, it works in our vegetable market too.

What you are refering by order book is not tape.. order book = non-executed orders waiting in the queue.. whereas tape = executed or filled orders.
There is difference between them. Orderbook is manipulated everywhere (by market maker or by smart algo-trading computers), but the print on tape is about actual traded price which can't be manipulated. Tape is the fastest way to get the price feedback. In otherwords you can very well say that you are trying to decipher a chart that prints more than 5 to 10 bars per second. 1 minute chart becomes higher timeframe here.

Happy trading.
hello AW10 i am with you tape reading is the fastest , most reliable way to trade. it is my personal belief. because i am taping from last 2 & half year . also use Ami for trading but founding much better is tape reading. tapes never lies . just we gave some time to understand . they are not written in cryptography. after sometime it gave you more excitement than cartoon , Alfred Hitchcock thriller or porn.

We can see the tape info if the trading/charting platform can draw "Time-and-Sales".
Sharekhan, iifl 's platform can draw only tick chart at max, I think. So we may not be able to see the real tape, but will be very close to it.
I think, as an alternative, you can draw 10sec chart, 20sec chart with volume and try to get msg from there.

Tape is overloaded with the info which a human mind can't process continuously, but there are time when this microscopic view helps. So as an starter, Just try to see how tape behaves at key price level (that's what I do most).

Thank you AW10.
Will start with 10 sec charts with volume at key levels.

Not sure about which indian broker can provide T&S data. Interactive brokers must be having this as they are global player and have this as part of their platform.

I use NinjaTrader platform and CQG as data provider for my Global trading. Indian trading is at the mercy of sharekhan's trade tiger platform. Not doing any short term trading, so it meets my purpose.
