Equity is traded in Stock Exchange.
Mutual Funds uses Equity to get gains.
Mutual Funds also trades through Stock Exchange like all.
The above are the relation between them.
They are all odds and cannot compare them.
You can invest in EQUITY(stocks/shares) through Mutual Funds or directly buying them.
For directly buying you need to have knowledge of which equity/share at what time to buy and sell. Means you need to manage it yourselves. So its more risky compaired to the Mutual Funds which are managed by professionals. Direct investing if done properly gives more returns than a Mutual Fund. Everything is upto you.
