Hi

Apple has new IPhones like 5C and 5S. Apple offers a new way to close and open this IPhones through a finger print. Apple is an American based company and has to give access to all your data stored in your IPhone when requested from NSA or maybe even give access to those data through the telephone provider you choose. We do not know all the details. Even if Apple promises that all those data of course never will be miss used in any way, as promised in the past with other data, be very careful when using that tool. Your choice, your finger, your absolute and only yours when it comes to identity. Be absolute and very clear about that.

Hi

Important for all users of Internet Explorer 8 and 9 with Windows XP and Windows 7:

Microsoft is investigating public reports of a vulnerability in all supported versions of Internet Explorer. Microsoft is aware of targeted attacks that attempt to exploit this vulnerability in Internet Explorer 8 and Internet Explorer 9. Applying the Microsoft Fix it solution, "CVE-2013-3893 MSHTML Shim Workaround," prevents the exploitation of this issue. See the Suggested Actions section of this advisory for more information

And here the fix tool for the moment, as the batch will come witht the next batch day in October.

Hi

Chaos Computer Club breaks Apple TouchID

In post 93 on the 15. September I told you to be carefull when using IPhones new finger print tool. Now today, 23. September, we know: The tool is already hacked.

The biometrics hacking team of the Chaos Computer Club (CCC) has successfully bypassed the biometric security of Apple's TouchID using easy everyday means. A fingerprint of the phone user, photographed from a glass surface, was enough to create a fake finger that could unlock an iPhone 5s secured with TouchID. This demonstrates – again – that fingerprint biometrics is unsuitable as access control method and should be avoided.

"We hope that this finally puts to rest the illusions people have about fingerprint biometrics. It is plain stupid to use something that you can´t change and that you leave everywhere every day as a security token", said Frank Rieger, spokesperson of the CCC. "The public should no longer be fooled by the biometrics industry with false security claims. Biometrics is fundamentally a technology designed for oppression and control, not for securing everyday device access." Fingerprint biometrics in passports has been introduced in many countries despite the fact that by this global roll-out no security gain can be shown.
