Basics of future trading

Brokerage is "per lot"

say you buy a nifty future at 4500 and the brokerage is 0.03% then you will pay

4500*0.0003 = approx Rs. 1.5 (as it include service tax, turnover tax and what not)

same will be calculated at the time of selling... just that STT will be added when selling.. usually its approx Rs. 4 breakeven when 0.03% is the brokerage.

Attached is the excel sheet which can do the calculation for you and tell you the correct breakeven. You can use this to calculate how much brokerage you are paying and at what price if you sell then you will actually make some profits...

well thanks for xl sheet but it just got me confused u calculated 4.16 as brokerage which u then deducted this from the profit which also include all the taxes (stt,st,ed cess etc.) then u given 1604 after tax that means 687.6 Rs of tax ,which tax is this.above is ok (in sheet)but i want to know is there any other tax levied by the brokage firm .plz explain thanks.

FSL has lot size of 9500 and is currently priced at 33.10 .I want to know how money should i have to buy 1 lot of it.
By Calculations it amounts to 9500*33.10*0.15 = 47165.5 Rs which is too much.Is it correct? .Also if have say 10 k in the bank account and i want to buy nifty futures for intraday which blocks about 30k ,does the broker give exposure on the amount i have?
