1) The traders participate on small capital of say Rs 25,000 or 50,000 and they will trade with high leverage sometimes taking risk as high as 15 % of the capital on every trade. So either they make very high % returns or they blow their account. But can they trade in the same fashion when they trade for living on their 10 or 15 Lacs capital ??

2) Many traders will bet large quantity on unknown out of the money options with small premiums and huge quantity so here again big gain or blow the account but can they trade on their normal trading accounts like this ?

'Percentage returns' is the most deceiving and vastly abused term in trading. This is more applicable when it comes to trading competitions. It completely depends on one's trading capital. Most of the trading competitions(done worldwide) would require the participants to bring a fixed money say, 1 lac and would ask them to trade on it. This is will give a level-playing field for all the participants.

Another option is to cap the risk percentage per trade. But , as ST mentioned, not many people would favor this idea. And, its not viable for the broker as well :D

Giving large sums for the 1-2 winners also will not make traders shift from one discount broker to another. How many traders are confident of winning the competition when the winners will have returns upwards of 300-500 %.The following points also need to be considered in these trading competitions.

If they say not more than say 2 % risk on any trade for futures then it will have same yardstick for everyone but then that may not be acceptable to many participants.

The real gamechanger will be advanced charting and trading platform which will make traders shift accounts.

Very well said. I think the need of the hour is technology up gradation on the part of brokers. Tired of tall claims with little or no end result. Both big discount brokers have largely disappointed on this front. Z and rksv have come up short.

By the way, ST sir, I would just like to add that I don't think anybody would restrict their trade size to 15% when their account size is only 25000. It won't even be possible to take futures positions with 3000.

By the way, does anyone know which platform ITL offers?

giving prizes to 2-3 winners , may not prove game changer as , most traders lose anyway .
But, there web site clearly says,
Win prizes weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually across various league formats!
There are 52 weeks in a year.. :D
There is clear rule, min weekly trade 3, min monthly trade is 5.
They copied zerodha brokerage structure, calculator everything.. but added more spices.

In my view some trader can trade with 25k aggressively using options, Cover Order etc there to win the prizes. He/she can safely trade(different way) with other broker (like zerodha ) with high capital.
Although, such competition with min 1 Lakh Cap is more meaningful.

Anyway such prizes can just add up more spices.
When we passed the school, we move to high school then next. So when some one is already making profit consistently, no problem with trying finding ways for high returns.
We can experiment high risk high reward trades there with small risk capital. By that process we can innovate some new efficient method. Trader's life is about experimenting to find more better ways of faster capital increasing.
We usually take high risk high reward trades with less capital (like expiary day options trading :p). So all is not bad there. ;)

This is Zerodha's thread & we love Zerodha very much so don't want to discuss much about others here(this is my last post regarding to this topic). But the idea of giving weekly/monthly/quarterly prizes is definitely interesting. Most Traders love challenges..

If Zerodha is not willing to give special prizes for 60 day challenge, no problem. But adding some prizes with present brokerage return would definitely bring some more spices.

Best Wishes & Happy Trading.

The 60 day challenge players now have a choice.
Go with ABC and maybe get brokerage refund
or
go with XYZ and maybe get brokerage refund and cash prize
It's a no brainer.

The stakes just went up.
