Best broker(lesser evil)??

Hi friends,
I have been dealing with ICICIDirect for the past 2-3 years and am now fed up with their services & brokerage. Thus the hunt for a good broker. I know it is impossible to find a clean broker but please suggest a lesser evil broker who provides the following:

* Reliable service & Uptime.
* Does not auto square off or siphon money or shares.
* Lowest brokerage with no volume commitment.
* Best and versatile software who can provide desktop & web-based software. if its web-based is good than desktop is not much of a consideration.
* Versatile(Stocks, MF, IPO, F&O etc)
* Well known.
* Good Portfolio mgmt, IT reports, tips and suggestions etc etc.
* Other frills if any.


I went thru the various threads on this forum and what I found is that there is no definitive one brokerage house that comes out as a choice, or the threads are too old, or....thus this fresh request to suggest a good broker.

I primarily deal in f&o(not big trader...chota aadmi ), delivery trades...sometimes, MF.

Please dont suggest any sabsekampaisa.com types broker since I want to keep this thread as useful as possible without including small brokers whose names may not even be heard. Also I have heard bad things abt sharekhan, indiainfoline and experienced ID myself so please suggest a lesser evil broker.

PS: Can I continue using my icicidirect Demat if I change to a new broker if I otherwise close the trading a/c with ID?

Service culture with ICICI is not bad. But, their s/w. is not good. But for s/w and brokerage, ICICI would have been Number 1. Twice I opened a/c. with ICICI, knowing that their brokerage is high, but their s/w. let me down and forced to close a/c.
