What simple business can a former trader start

#1
I've been trading markets since March 2011 and decided to stop (my old username on Traderji was Klewtar.)

What simple business can I get into now?

Which is a better idea: Stationery shop or toy/gift shop?

Neither of them is a good idea. You select a business based on the following so that there is always good demand and never a recession .

1) Food Business : Start a catering service, or a special items like cakes, pastries, chocolates. Or serve breakfast to office goers, hospitals, school children etc

2) Health Business : Pharmacy shop, a medical tourism where a patient gets best medical help/surgery done in other countries, pathology laboratory.

3) Tourism Service : Cater to specialised segment. Like senior citizen, company executives, school children. One of my friends has started a NASA tour for school children and all parents want their kids to be future scientists and hence NASA tours have waiting lists.

4) Religion and Pilgrimage : Have a private temple, church,become a saint,baba .

The above lines are recessionproof lines and there is always demand there.

Best wishes for new business.

Hi ST,

I think you missed another business in this list...Play school. There are so many franchisee options available and seems very profitable by looking at the number of them opened recently.

If we consider any other business with its pros and cons and compare with trading we come to the conclusion that trading business is better. I have compared many businesses with trading and every time came to conclusion that trading is a better business.

Yes I missed education which is a big business.

I already lost 3 Lakhs trading commodities over 3 years. I wish I had your trading skills ST but I don't.

Maybe it is time to lose money in a brick and mortar business.

The playschool idea is interesting and almost basic. I was recently introduced to a website called Fledglings.com that has an app for playschool owners.

A fundamental analyst would be quick to tell you a list of businesses that you can open.

Open engine oil factory. Cost is 30-40lakh and margin is 15%+ (depending on how you do business and who supplies you)

Or paan masala factory, cost is 1cr and margin is 66%+
