What happens to undelivered/undeposited Dividend cheques ?

#1
We had some shares of a company. Its a big company.

We used to live at some other address. We don't live there anymore for the last 10 years or so.

Some dividend cheques must have been sent to our old address and they must have been sent back either undelivered or not deposited and the cheques must have expired.

What happens to such cheques and and deposits ? Are they lost forever and we won't get the amount back in future and that money is gone ?

Note : There is NO direct deposit in bank accounts for these dividends. And the dividends were NOT reinvested by the company into stocks. They were simply paid out.

TIA

Hi

Contact Company's regd office (share deptt) and they may help you. And if the amount is big enough then you may contact them personally, if within reach. The period for which you may get new cheques for dividend etc, is perhaps 5 years or so (though not sure).

Yes beyond that goes to some welfare account,
so be happy to participate in this forced charity,
if not money you will at the least earn some merit for next lives :D

Happy :)

since you know the folio no of shares ( i am assuming these are physical shares)you hold first get the address change recorded in books of company by submitting the copy of pan card and proof of new address be it copy of aadhar card /passport etc .once address change is recorded you ask the detail and request to send all un cashed dividends till date.the company will happily send the same within 7 years .
