Dear amaren,

Geojit has it, though i am not recomending Geojit, check my post http://www.traderji.com/brokers-demat-matters/6978-geojit-best-i-dont-think-so.html

As a matter of fact, i didnt try it on a linux box. But i did try on a FireFox + windows xp + sun java combination.

Hope this helps.

Regards
Siva

Subject: Revision in Platform Charges and Payment Options
Importance: High

Dear Customer,

We are pleased to inform that with effect from July 2006 the minimum
brokerage for:
Platinum Platform * stands revised to Rs.2000/- p. m. from the current
Rs.3000/- p.m.
Gold Platform* stands revised to Rs.300/- p. m. from the current Rs.500/-
p.m.
Also the calculations and charges shall be performed monthly instead of
quarterly.

Further, the customer shall also have an option to choose any one of the
following options:
1. Charged Option
2. Non-Charged Option

Charged Option: This means that the customer has subscribed to the Platform
in accordance to his needs and is willing to commit the minimum monthly
brokerage or failing which he shall pay the differential as 'Streaming
Charges' at the end of the month. If the Streaming charges remain
outstanding beyond the 10th of the following month then the customer shall
be converted to Non-charged option and shall be linked to the Gold or Silver
platform accordingly.

Non-Charged Option: This means that the customer has subscribed to the
Platform in accordance to his needs. At the end of the month if the actual
brokerage is less than the minimum then there shall be no levy for Streaming
charges but the customer shall be linked to Gold or Silver platform
accordingly.

Customers can change from Charged to Non-charged option and vice versa by
sending their requests to [email protected] or updating the same on the
Customer Care site (shall be available shortly). All requests for received
for such changes shall be applicable from the following month.

Customer may also intimate his request for changing the platform in
accordance to his needs.

You may send your request for selecting the appropriate Payment option and
the Platform option (in case of changes) to [email protected] from your
registered email address alongwith your client code.

Looking forward to your support.

Warm Regards,

Geojit's Customer Care Center

Note:
* Geojit offers three types of platforms to choose from according to your
requirements. They are:
1. Platinum - The Platinum version acts as a virtual dealers terminal
providing live updates and confirmation. The executable program is
downloaded on the customer's computer. This is generally used by those who
trade heavily intra-day and take very little delivery. Therefore the need
for real-time prices and the quick order entry like that of a dealer
terminal come handy to these customers.

A minimum brokerage of Rs.2000/- per month is required to be generated to
avail the Platinum system.

2. Gold - Gold version is a web-based solution. During market hours the
stock prices are refreshed seamlessly and the speed is mostly dependant on
the bandwidth connectivity used by the customer. In this, the trader will
receive live quotes as the rates are refreshed every second.

A minimum brokerage of Rs.300/- per month is required to be generated to
avail this platform. Those who are generally on the move and may not be able
to use their own computer for trading generally use this platform. Since it
is a web-based system, one can login from any where in the world and take
advantage of the price movements.

3. Silver - Silver platform is also a browser-based solution wherein the
feeds are updated every minute and not real-time as in the Gold platform.
However, one can click the refresh button as many times to view the latest
stock prices. There are no minimum brokerage charges for this platform. A
normal investor who does not engage in large volumes may find the Silver
version most suited to his needs

Hi amaren

I use Linux whenever I do trading or banking transaction on the net.
I use Indiabulls PowerBulls trading terminal that is java based.
I have installed SUN JAVA (jre).

So from my experience there is no problem in using SUN JAVA on Linux terminals for Indiabulls trading.

Hope this helps

heres a wild idea (i am not sure if its possible as well since i havent tried ti myself and might be a overkill for what you want to achieve).

i just came across a software www.vmware.com.my wild idea is if you have time to experiment, run a windows virtual machine on linux machine using the vmware player.

i hvanet tried it myself though and dont understand it completely how it works, but should be achievable i think.

hi gaussias
I dont know about vmware much but i will try (i like experimenting). But if it is of the same kind as "WINE" the window enumerater. then it does not help at all. because i successfully ran IE6 in linux but again SUN java was the problem.
thanx for the suggestion i will try vmware. i hape its free
