Can anyone please recommend me some best books on Indian Stock and Commodity market?

I know it is better to have practical knowledge and experience, but as I am novice in the stock & commodity market, so I am thinking I should start by reading a book before investing.

Hi,

For starting out download books by nse for different modules like technical analysis, fundamental analysis, macro etc. These are basic material.
They can be found in nse website .

For technical analysis check http://www.amazon.in/Technical-Analysis-Financial-Markets-Comprehensive/dp/0735200661

Below books are for CMT course so they encompass almost all different topics for trading and its methods.
CMT 1
• Edwards, Robert D. and Magee, John, Technical Analysis of Stock Trends, 9th Edition, CRC Press, Taylor & Francis Group, Boca Raton, Florida, c2007
• Kirkpatrick, Charles D. and Dahlquist, Julie R.: Technical Analysis The Complete Resource for Financial Market Technicians, Pearson Education, Inc
• Pring, Martin J.: Technical Analysis Explained, 4th Edition, McGraw Hill Book Company
• Jeremy du Plessis, The Definitive Guide to Point and Figure, Harriman House LTD, 2009

CMT 2
• Frost, A.J. and Prechter, Robert R., Elliott Wave Principle, Tenth Edition
• Kaufman, Perry J., New Trading Systems and Methods, 4th Edition, John Wiley & Sons
• Nison, Steve, Japanese Candlestick Charting Techniques, 2nd Edition
• Pring, Martin J., Investment Psychology Explained
• Aronson, David R.: Evidence-Based Technical Analysis

CMT 3
• Brown, Constance M., Technical Analysis for the Trading Professional, McGraw-Hill
• Murphy, John J.,Intermarket Analysis: Profiting From Global Market Relationships, John Wiley & Sons Inc
• Shiller, Robert J., Irrational Exuberance, 2nd Edition

For Fundamental analysis I dont know much about good books but still the industry standards is Benjamin Grahim book
http://www.amazon.in/Intelligent-In...31361614&sr=1-1&keywords=intelligent+investor.

Start gradually with one book and keep progressing.
Good luck

Thank you for giving reference. I will invest in Indian market.
As per my understanding foreign books & analysis are written by targeting foreign market.

How much it will help if I read foreign books for Indian stock market?

Concepts are same. You need to tweak them to apply on Indian Stock Markets. I have read some of the books written by Indian Traders cum authors as I had the same doubt as you have, but they are not of much of use.

Here are my recommendations. Go through them after gaining some basic technical knowledge.

The New Trading for a Living by Elder Alexander
Super Trader by Van K Tharp
The Disciplined Trader by Mark Douglas
Mastering the Trade by John Carter
Reminiscences by a Stock Operator by Edwin Lefevre

Pring, Martin J.: Technical Analysis Explained, 4th Edition, McGraw Hill Book Company

I have read the above book. It's an excellent book. The language is very simple that even a first time reader having little knowledge about technical would be able to grasp the concepts. I'd recommend the book to beginners

Different method suits different to traders. First you have to discover yourself using diffrent trading tools or methods which one exactly suits you.

My fev books are present below:-
http://thepatternsite.com/mybooks.html
You can get some best free tuturials in that site completely free.

Pattern trading is universal method that suits to all types market in this world. But 1st you have to discover yourself that it suits you as a pattern trader or not.

Pattern traders can get much quicker entry and exit than indicator based traders. Pattern trading has much more profit potential but it is one of the toughest method to learn. You need to analyse patterns in different time frames & practise trading in live market for long times at least 4-5 years to know real power of pattern trading. There are many famous candlestick patterns and their famous books available.

As a pattern trader my fev authors are
1. Thomas N. Bulkowski [Getting Started in Chart Patterns,Trading Classic Chart Patterns, Visual Guide to Chart Patterns, Encyclopedia of Candlestick Charts]

If you want to read some other famous writers books on that topic read following,
2. Japanese Candlestick Charting Techniques by Steve Nison
I bought Video Tutorials set by Steve Nison long ago with live seminar. You can try to find it.

3. Profitable Candlestick Trading: Pinpointing Market Opportunities to Maximize by Stephen W. Bigalow
that book is also very good for beginners.

4. There is good video tutorials on Candlestick by Gregory L. Morris. I bought it from amazon.com long ago. You can search that in youtube also. You can search net to find his books also (very good).

Thats more than enough material for you on Candlestick Chart Pattern Recognition.

---------
I also liked two famous books one on trading psychology by Alexander Elder & other on money management by Van K Tharp. You can search net by authors to find those books. I have also benifited from famous Trading Room Video Course by Alexander Elder.

--------
One very good free tuto on youtube, for friends,

Trading Psychology That Works - See Inside Yourself

Hi,

I was going through the patterns here http://thepatternsite.com.

I'm a beginner in trading. I'm curious to know that will these patterns work out in Indian market. I am guessing that, these patterns will work out. But I'm wondering, the trading setup and percentage target and time lines mentioned here will work out in Indian market?

http://thepatternsite.com/BestPatterns.html
http://thepatternsite.com/DBTradingSetup.html

Or do we need to tweak these values for Indian market? Can you please explain?

Thanks,
Midhun
