As expected, Nifty went up till 3.56% before retreating to close at 1.12%. So does this mean, that the upside is now over and the next course is downside and target 6800?

Demark has been of course this time around for nifty

Hi All,
"High of the bar 9 of Sell set up will be generally higher than high of the bar 6 , if it is not, then in next 3 bars,high of bar 6 will be broken."

Is it necessary for this condition to be satisfied before starting the countdown phase in sequential TD?

No it is not a essential condition of a set up. This condition is called Set Up Qualifier which is generally met but if it is not met, the setup is in no way inferior or deficient.
