Significance of Volume inside the Trading Windows

Hello Guys, what's the significance of the volume inside the trading window? Is it the number of shares available in the market? Or the total number of shares currently traded since market opening?

total number of shares traded so for. At 3 pm volume shall show, how many shares have been traded since the time of market open (9:15 AM for Indian SEs).

You can buy 'total sell quantity' at any particular instance of time, of course at sellers' quoted prices better known as 'ask price' or 'offer price'.
plz note that 'total sell quantity' keeps on changing from time to time.

if you trade in highly liquid stocks (where there are many buyers and sellers), you don't have to bother about it.
