Provident Funds to invest up to 5 percent of their portfolios in the stock market

Good news for the stock markets as the the trustees of India's largest pension fund decided on Monday to appoint a financial consultant to advise on investing in the stock market. Their first step in the right direction.

Since the government allowed private pension funds to invest up to 5 percent of their portfolios in the stock market and non-government pension funds have assets of about 1.3 trillion rupees and you can expect nearly 200 billion rupees (20,000 crores) to flow into the stock market.

The first step in providing stabilty to our volatile market.
