We get to live only once, and we are in a good profession where we do not answer to others but ourselves, only few other professions in this world have this sort of advantage. We trained hard, we gave everything we had to learn the craft, it took years, but now we are a full time trader, who can make a living from the markets. How do you think we should change our life style to enjoy full benefits out of our profession.

Let us have this space to post articles and discuss on the same, this can vary anywhere from tourism, to trading overview, to exercises, to lifestyle choices, cars anything related to the lifestyle that this profession can provide us but not technical and analytical.

Request all full time traders to update their views on this topic here in this thread.

I hope this one counts:
I dont remember where I read it or who said it, but I read a post in one forum where a trader said he doesnt trade in summer because he has to spend time with his son. Is there any other profession where you can choose like this?

trading is a very very very lonely profession and some time it is so boring
True Tradering is aloners job :) and everything is borning ya know nothing new happens in market. whatever is happening has happened before !!! :xD
If u have a ppls that depend on you then having fixed income source is recommended. when u come to market thinks it;s gone already what u invested .That way u won;t have any fear of loosing. And when u don;t have any fear u cann;t be defeated easily :)

This was only Business that offered money while u can be with family 24x7 .they be in front of your eyes.
offcourse you are torqued and punish when u are against markets.

Trading is most stressful. U will end up being in suckar class. This is game of intelligence. you will loose your innocence and will become more black hearted.
As successful trader you will have money but will never have scarification at heart.

Your win is someone's Loss . so really would u be happy even if u win ? Think yourself !!

game of never ending fights will keep u lurk and keeps u busy. All u can think is Candle day or night.even while watching ponr lol in back ground elliot theory pops up saying hey i think markets will go this way tomorrow lol.

Tho we have freedom. we can choose the day not to trade or take straight 1 week off or so..........but everything comes with price.

and there will be point where u make 100 thousand and can loose 1 lakhs in single wrong 1 trade.
it;s like movie 300 :xD
you think it;s never ending battle u can win.
Nothing is free in this world .Everything has price :)

to add my few words:--

NO one dies virgin in stock market ..Markets fcuks them all !! atleast once lol
What doesn;t kills you only makes u stronger
now that song is perfect for markets Monsters..Monster and keeps getting stronger ....

And my loss isnt that "someones" win? We all are here knowing this fact, so I think we stand on a neutral moral ground.

Not necessarily all the time, as f&o instruments are used for hedging as well. Even if it is true, everything is competition in life, even for campus interview out of 1000 they select 100 students so does this mean 100 students victory is 900 students failure? If yes then you got my point we live in a competitive world, If no then it doesn't apply to trading as well as hedgers will be ready to sell you for lower profits where you buy from them and sell for higher profits.

Producer -> mediator -> consumer.

Please refrain from posting negative things like stock market is a gamble and no one can win in stock market. I request only people who love this profession whether or not successful to post here. If you have lost and gave up trading already request you to refrain from posting negative posts. Thanks.

I will add posts and request few full time traders I know to post their life style ideas here..

Takashi Kotegawa is super day trader in Japan who has
increased his own fund from 1.6 million yen
($13,600) to 18 billion yen($153 million) for 8
year by only day trading. How does this ultra-rich day trader live? A TV
program host asked him a
few questions about his lifestyle:
What is revealed:
The most expensive thing he bought recently
were two Nintendo Wii gaming systems.
He doesn’t carry around large amounts of cash
because he feels that looking at it would hurt his
ability to make sound judgments when
day trading.
He is a super trader but with emotional imbalance so he lives in a middle class family life. Every trader has it's unique lifestyle with which he feels comfortable.

you are right, through out the history people like test123 have always popped out... and said retarded things... here are few examples.

When electricity was introduced, people worked hard to ban it showing dead electrocuted animals..
When steam engine was introduced, people revolted as it would steal the jobs...
When cotton mill was introduced... people went in and smashed all the machines.
When systematic study of management and banking innovations were studied (brilliant men like Peter Drucker) some morons went on talking retarded things like 'man should ban money and should return to barter'...

People with primitive mindset never understand financial innovations and modern way of life.
But here is the rub... people who blame things are the first ones who are actually benefiting from a free market activities.. and their teeny tiny brain can't grasp how this is happening!

This is like sitting on airplane and cursing all modern engineering, computers, electricity, finance innovations... but enjoying the airplane ride!

anyways just wanted to add a positive note against moronic mud slinging...

Well said, friend. And I am afraid the diehard traders are not going to like what you say. Anyhow you helped me once by providing historical data of crude, thereby saving a great deal of my time. So let me spend a few minutes to tell you something.

I have been trading live markets since March,2013. I entered prepared by systematically spending 5 months learning the TA and doing demo trading, so no loss and no painful learning curve. On monthly basis I never have had a single losing month till todate, touchwood. Started as a daytrader, doing 6-7 trades a day. And then last year it hit me that I might have made a great deal of money but I spent around 500 days of my life doing just that - making money and thinking about markets 24/7, nothing else. I hardly went anywhere, read any great book, listened to music or saw any movies, hardly played any sport, talked with my parents or my best friends. Even my girlfriend, my would-be-wife threatened to become could-have-been-wife!
All the money in my account could buy expensive things but couldn't do a thing about what was really really valuable to me - my health, my outdoor activites, my studies, my happiness, my family and friends. So I stopped trading completely for a couple of months and restructured my life. Went back to my research which hopefully will be finished by coming Fall or by early next year and I will fly back to US to carry on with my studies. I restablished all the daily routines and all the relationships. No, I didn't give up trading altogether. Only everyday trading I gave up. Now I trade 5-7 trades a month, mostly in commodities, spending just a couple of hours or so on average in the evening. Of course, once a while I do swift scalping or daytrade if some important news or geopolitcal event is in the offing, otherwise no. Honestly speaking, nowadays trading is the last thing in my day to day life. It is just a boring-as-hell means to an end - making fast and easy money, that is all.

Paradox is, I am making more money now than before. And on top, I am living my life the way I mean to live. Funny...

Take care, friend.

Tlahuicole, you don't need to defend your wins on humanitarian basis at all.

As a matter of fact, I would go ahead and say, people should thank winning traders.

Purpose of an entrepreneur is moving capital from lower productivity to higher productivity areas.
Purpose of a speculator is similar to entrepreneur and he shoulders the market risk which non market specialists are only happy to hand over to him.
Speculators compete and take responsibility for their judgement calls, unlike any other profession where they can escape with red tape and finger pointing.

Lets say, if test123 and his friends try to create a market place where there won't be any speculative losses...
They will succeed in creating a market place with no small losses but entire society will get stuck in static world and will spectacularly blow up one day because of massive misallocations.

Speculative losses, are like breathing out and sign that society is collecting it's garbage and removing unwanted non working parts from the working economy.

test123 should have taken insurance at some point in time, that's what I am telling, these people enjoy the fruits of market process (insurance is nothing but a speculator selling a PUT option taking the collective risk, that test123 is not willing to take) but don't understand the stupidity of their own words!

PS: Sorry this thread is about life style... topic is being hijacked to something else.
