yes, laptop prices have increased, even i am using a very old laptop, decided to use a 128 gb ssd, transferred OS to it..... then removed the laptop's dvd drive... used a hdd caddy n using another 500 gb hdd for storage in laptop...

My hardwarewala recommended the same. The DVD is not useful to me. How are the results ? I was given a price of Rs. 3000 for this.

hdd caddy is an enclosure in which we can fit a 2nd laptop hdd, it comes in 9.5mm and 12.7 mm ( breadth of caddy )... with 2.5 inch sata port.... just check breadth of your current dvd drive and sata port before buying...

So, for 3000 he will provide 128GB SSD and other fittings (may be HDD caddy) etc as required.

He didn't say anything about a caddy. He just said that he will replace the DVD with SDD. Let's see. Won't be doing so anytime soon.

You have chosen the right laptop. Ram and processor are also fine. For a student, it’s very important that the laptop is not too heavy and can be carried conveniently. You can check the price and go for it.
